With the passage of SB337 and whatever else the Dems throw at us now that they have their governor and a veto proof majority, things are going to be tougher on LGS' in Illinois. I understand that it's often easy to find lower prices online, but if having LGS' here is important to you it's worth paying a little bit of a premium to buy through them. I'm aware of some that are off the charts expensive and I won't buy from them, but we have a couple in my area that are always close pricewise to what I can find online. Those are worth our support.

I don't disagree one bit, I think this new governor is going to be a bad deal for Illinois with the current legislature. I have a really good job, land and family that have me tied heavily to this area but I don't know what my threshold will be before I consider a big sale and a drive from MO to work (55 miles one way) and then later just up and moving completely.

I just hope there is a state left to want to reside in once Madigan and Pritzker rape the constitution.

I do some gunsmithing and transfers as a side business. This new licensing bill will make it impossible for me to keep my FFL. Moving out of state is not an option as I have family and another full time business to run.

I live in Illinois and have always bought from my Local Gun Shops. My closest dealer has said if they pass the gun licensing bill in Illinois, he will be forced to go out of business. Very sad - he and his wife run a great business.

I have, for ten years, worked part time in a LGS. Years ago, dad and I had a small store and commercial ammo loading service. We followed the federal laws and never had a problem. This is a POS feel good, make a couple hundred new patronage jobs, drive the little guy out of business sham that won't prevent one crime.
I am a NRA Benefactor Life member but give far more to the ISRA who will be challenging this farce in court.
We are in deep doo doo in Illinois with a 100% Democrat majority in the house, Senate and governors mansion. BTW, veto proof majorities besides. And people thought Rauner was bad.

I wish you all in Illinois the best. If you decide to leave we have room for you here in MI. We are still mostly a free State.

Thanks for the invitation. I've been to Traverse City and the UP quite a few times and it's beautiful. We've already made the decision to move to Wisconsin. My oldest son is moving there in May after he gets married, and the rest of us are following as soon as possible. Keeping this gun related, Illinois was #2 in the country as far as population loss last year. As people like us leave, the stronghold the Dems have on the state increases and their anti gun policies will come more quickly. One hope for the state is that the population of the Chicago area is dropping as well, so hopefuly (but I'm not counting on it) the stronghold the Chicago politicians have on the state will be diminished.

This is a big reason why, as much as I hated Rauner, I told people they were signing the death warrant for gun rights in Illinois when they refused to vote for him "out of principle."

Also, this is just the beginning. An assault weapons ban complete with registration is working its way through the legislature, as is a bill requiring all ammo to be serialized and creating a registry tracking all ammo sales with a half cent tax per round of ammo tacked on.

Two ways to support Illinois gun stores, don't buy Springfield Armory or Rock River Arms Products.

I noticed that Lewis Machining and Tool is moving to Iowa and I suspect that both of those mfgs along with DSA might move as well in the future. I am sorry for the good folks in Illinois as the govt. appears to be taking the same route as that of New Jersey and New York.

It appears this is a one time fee. I am not sure how many actual businesses will be decimated by a one time fee of $300-1500.

I don't think it is one time, but for a three or five year period...add in the cost of the video recording, digital records and annual employee training and it adds up faster.

Please, if you move here, to Wis., please vote with guns in the process of deciding who to vote for. It's one thing to leave a state, but leave it's policies there too. Our new governor is now pushing Red Flag Laws, and making alot of noise about them. I don't want us following in Illinois footsteps, and that is what we have heard from Evers, so far.
