at Walleyworld, there are Assistant Managers who have a locker full of keys, who assign the keys to Zone Supervising Managers, who give the keys to the regular sales people, but are still responsible for them. Since the sales floor doesn't usually staff customer service stations after a certain time, those keys have to be held by the ZSM, and they usually don't have more than one shift per 24 hours, so the keys are returned to the locker, and you have to get an assistant manager to open them, and good luck with that. Employees are encouraged to make up stories and excuses to customers to hide walmarts staffing policies, and thats one of the big reason why no one really knows whats happening in any given situation. Edit to add. Those keys frequently carry the entire facility key sets, and if lost, the store is actually re-keyed completely. It can cost $15000, so they take the keys very seriously. Yup, I have seen it.
