If Virginia's Governor Northam resigns is that good or bad for the 2A in VA?

Have some respect. For him. For Virginians. For yourself.

The Lt. Governor, Justin Fairfax, is just as bad on guns as Northam. Actually, Northam staying in office, politically wounded, would tend to stymie his massive antigun initiatives during the rest of his term. He would be busy trying to rehabilitate his reputation.

Good point. Virginia has been going to hell in a basket. Once a strong Red state, just cannot keep up with the growing demographics. Pretty much turned to Blue. Problem is, with Liberal Politicians, they know they have to get "Rising, Demographic Vote". Just like the Previous Gov. that released thousands of Felons from Prison, right before the Hillary, Trump election. He also restored their right to vote. Down here, they were even instructing the felons how to Vote for Hillary and the Liberal machines. Photo Ops being taken would make me vomit. We just had a election for city Mayor council. And just like we thought, typical crap. One guy elected ran on one thing in his resume. "Former Football player". No business acumen at all. Nothing, Nada. It shows you just how dumbed down and disgusting Virginia has become.

Yes, let us hope he stays in office until the next election. He will have political bleeding from the photo's. Let him bleed out slowly.

Yes, doing the right thing is strange, indeed, in 2019 America. How many others could take a lesson from this but are too blind and self-serving to do so?

I find it amusing when the Left's tactics come back to bite their own. IMHO, he should not have to resign over a party picture from 35-40 years ago. It's beyond ridiculous. And yet, if this were a conservative or Constitutional minded politician, it would be front page outrage for days until he stepped down. What's good for the goose...

While many Virginia Politicians have gone to the sewer. It is almost amusing to watch. The same crowd that put him into office is the same crowd now calling for a lynching. Northam big on giving them all kinds of Welfare and free rides really does not matter. Or they just cannot figure out they are cutting off their nose to save their face. Northam ran with them on gun control, which is ironic because they produce the greatest violent crimes in the state and as we all know, they do not arm themselves by obeying the laws of the land. In fact they laugh at gun control. Thugs do not buy their guns, or at least not individually.
Republicans can take this opportunity and if they play their cards right, come out ahead. We really have to have a very strong turnout in order to defeat them. The city I live in cannot take much more. From the horrible riot of the Greek Feast in the 80's and others that followed, to the destruction of our monuments, our history, the butchering of history as taught now in the school systems, the destruction of once nice neighborhoods now reduced to areas of drugs and crime outrageous behavior in our school systems and on and on.

The 2nd Amendment to the Constitutions is sacred in this state and a big part of our History and Culture. We can defeat these people. We have draw a line in the dirt and Make A Stand. That is Right. I REPEAT "STAND". STAND OR OUR FLAG, STAND FOR THE 2ND AMENDMENT.
This Liberal was wants to totally take away the 2nd amendment rights altogether. Needless to say, I have no sympathy for this enemy of the State.

Interesting that this photo has been available all this time, you would think SOMEONE might have done a better job of canvassing this dude when he was running for gov, esp since he ran a deplorable race vs his republican competitor. Northam painted the republican candidate as a racist thet wanted to run over minorities(literally), when , in reality, Northam is the racist. Typical liberal hypocrisy. Many Virginians knew he would run this way even before he ran. He is just another liberal sycophant. They all have the same platforms. They are all clones of each other. The Liberals that want him removed, I serious doubt is about the Picture, but more of a way of showing power. "Like see, we can do whatever we want". We can elect you, we can fire your. The only way he will survive this is to give them more and more welfare and free rides. He can buy them. And screw the tax payer, the rest of the State, and the 2nd amendment. If he comes out ahead, the State will again lose financially.and morally.

To the Left, Northam is expendable. They have a deep bench. The Lt. Gov., Fairfax, and the AG, Herring, are cut from the same ideological cloth as Northam. Northam served his purpose, which was to prevent a Republican from being elected governor. If he is to be sacrificed now for the sake of "racial equality," they are fine with that. Either way, guns are still in a precarious position in Virginia.

What have you been looking at? You have it completely backwards. The Democrats are in fact sacrificing him to the greater good exactly as they should. Exactly as they did with Al Franken. Even though he is one of their own. Republicans would be saying “What’s the big deal,” if this were one of theirs. So yes the Left, as you call it, is bitten by their adherence to principles instead of situational ethics. I rest my case.

Conflating this fundamental issue of the American experience, racism in its most basis embodiment, with your precious gun ownership and gun control fears is despicable. To try and justify any outcome of this situation on any basis other than a step toward the eradication of racism is shameful. What is wrong with you people? Would you in fact purchase your 2A rights at the price of racism, because that is exactly what is being implied here. Nothing matters but your guns. Besides I am enjoying how they are biting the hand that feeds them. It is not about Racism. It is about more hand outs. the power to get more welfare, Govt. subsidizes. affirmative action program's, Gun control is nothing but a "Wedge Issue" to further the free lunch. Gun control? I really am laughing out loud. Especially when you look at reality of where the violence comes from. In Virgina, we are sick of how our Monuments being torn down, our history butchered, our school systems that cater to unbelievable bad behavior, Bus Drivers having to call the police, our neighborhoods once nice pristine areas turned into drug areas, high crime. And all the other events that have happened there each year. Hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in Preventing another looting and rioting.

In politics, there is no "right thing." It's always a matter of expediency. And that applies to everybody, Left and Right alike. I've been watching this stuff ever since I campaigned for JFK as a teenager. Experience has made me cynical.

Jeb, let us suppose the VA governor were an arch conservative and friend of the 2A. Would that allow him to pursue racism with impunity? Is there no evil that a person could commit that would outweigh their support of the 2A? What price would you pay against the soul of the nation so that you could carry a gun without even the most minor restriction?

You are more worried about whether folks are standing tall at a ball game than what is in their hearts.

It's six of one, half a dozen of the other. Fairfax is as anti as Northam and Herring and none can beat the house in Richmond. Let him stay or let him go, it doesn't matter to me.

Robert, I do not understand what you are saying. Yelling Racism, as a excuse to go against the second Amemdment is ridiculous. It is used constantly by the liberals. As Del. Fritas who feels "In his seven-minute screed, Freitas said he tried to convey how Democrats who compare gun-rights advocates to Nazis or segregationists shut down any chance for a real debate.
The Liberas need to stop slandering the Republicans with Racism as a excuse. If Liberals want to discuss equality, welfare, govt programs, then do so in a honest debate. Let the champions of preserving the 2nd amendment do just that. It seems very Ironic that those who are know calling for the head of Gov. Northam, are the same ones that actually want to take away the Freedoms of Honest, Americans across the land. I dont give a crud whats in his heart. Or in my Governors heart. Or my neighbors. Or yours.

You cant legislate or regulate how people think and feel, at least not in a free society. What matters is actions.

I care about how their policies effect my life, family, and country.

I dont condone racism, or leftism. I dont care if you are white, black, purple, or polka dotted- if you are trying to take my rights, guns, money, land, or Bible then Im glad your being roasted over the coals, for whatever reason.

As fellow forum member Deanimator likes to point out, gun control has racist roots. If, indeed, Northam is a racist, it wouldn't be at all inconsistent for him to also be in favor of gun control.

That is just the point, They know he is NOT a racist. It is the ability to fire him that is the point. A show of power. And again, Gun control is nothing but a wedge issue for them.
