Underwood finally has a 327 load

Hip hip… horray! Sorry if this has been posted before but I just saw this and though i'd share for y'alls 327 people out there. 95gr defender screwdriver load rated at 1500fps(no bbl length indicated), 18" penetration out ov a 1 7/8"(like my cute little lcr) and 21" from 4". Just thought i'd share; haven't bought myself yet. Now i'd wish they'd load a traditional HP for our little black sheep to munch on. Here's the link:

Interested in the .327 but I have too many guns in too many calibers to add another. That 95 gr. screwdriver at 1500 fps should do the trick given what has been posted about the other loadings.
 
If the velocity is 1500 fps out of an LCR, that's pretty damn good and when it comes to snubs, I prefer a non hollow point (even though .327 is fast enough to cause expansion of snubs.)

I'm just glad to see that someone other than Federal and Buffalo Bore are making .327 "business" ammo. When the likes of Winchester and Hornady join in, hopefully with some range ammo that's a bit weaker than the American Eagle stuff and a bit under $20 per 50 rds, then .327 will have all it needs to take off.

And since someone will probably ask why I want .327 ammo that's weaker than American Eagle's stuff is simple: because I don't always want full power .327 for range shooting, but I do want it to be more powerful than the extremely weak, but cheap .32 S&W Long or expensive .32 H&R Mag ammo that's available.
 
I doubt that it'll do 1500 out ov an lcr but it's probably still relatively smokin'. I agree that a downloaded range 327 would be helpful. That AE stuff is hot, perhaps even hotter than when it first came out. The 100gr softpoints weren't available for a few months before coming back. The last time I was at the range with the new batch the cases were bulging more than they used to and extraction was actually rather hard. Not even buffalo bore 327 does that. I am glad that underwood has a 327 load now, even though what I really want to see is a hot 115gr HP for SD.
 
Doesn't Speed make some gold dots in 327 as well? I really wish Hornady would make a 327 load using their FTX bullets. They already make 32 H&R so no like they would need to reengineer the bullet. Heck I'd be happy if they just sold their 32 cal FTX bullets, the only way to get them is preloaded in the H&R. Either way I'll have to see if I can find some of this around me, always thought those monolithic bullets would pair well with the speed of a 327.
 
The American Eagle 85 grain softpoints are downloaded compared to the 100 grain. They are quite comfortable to shoot in the LCR, or at least they seem so to me. I know recoil is very subjective, but I don’t think anyone would argue that they recoil as much as the 100 grain AE load.

You should not mistake the 327 Federal for a ladies' gun. That would be more like 32 H&R, with all due respect to ladies who handle magnums okay. They both can shoot from the 327 gun, however.

My wife handles my 686 with full tilt boogie 140gr H110 loads just fine. She enjoys the catharsis of the large fireball too, but she has smaller hands. I think a K frame sized 327 would be a good fit for her.

Same. Not saying I never do it, but so far I've loaded light loads with Bullseye and some moderate loads with Unique.

I think the reason/excuse ammo companies will make for why they don't make a lighter .327 load with a 100 or 115 grain bullet is .32 H&R does that just fine and there are more .32 H&R chambered guns than .327. Which is BS because Ruger and Henry are pumping out more guns in .327 than .32 H&R has ever had made for it and when I look on gunbroker, there are usually 4 times more .327 guns for sale than .32 H&R.

.327 brass is stronger too, so it's easier to work with and has a better "safety factor" which I'm sure the ammo companies love.
 
Very interesting. I'm considering getting an LCR 327 either for myself or my Mom (she likes the trigger on LCRs).

I can see loading 4 or 5 32 H&R mags and a good 327 (like this one) for the final round or 2.
