Probably a stupid e-form question. Approved, now what?

I got this email...

This is to advise you that the status of your eForms submission with the subject Permit/Control number has changed to APPROVED

Permit/Control No: (number)
Your Reference No: (number)
Submission Date: 2018-12-29-05:00
Form ID: ATF FORM 1 - APPLICATION TO MAKE AND REGISTER A FIREARM

Please logon to the eForms site for more details.

I logged on, and don't have any more details. Attached was a document (PDF, I think) that has my stamp on it. Will I get a copy in the mail? Is there anything I actually need on the eForms site? Should I print out several copies and stash them?

First time SBR here, and first time eForms user too.

Thanks.

That's your "more details".;)

Nope.

You need that .pdf of your tax stamp.

Print out and store a copy in your safe.
Although the only person you are required by law to show it to is a Federal agent, it's a good idea to have a copy with the firearm. The most likely nitwit to demand to see your "Class 3 license"*** is at your local gun range. Failure to show it to him may get you kicked out.

*** there is no such thing (now or ever) as a "Class 3 license".:D

In this age of smart phones being with people everywhere, all the time, I just recommend that people take a good photo of their F1/F4.

I don't drag a pile of F2s around for all my posties, SBRs and demo cans. Just digital images on the phone.

And that digital image isn't a "copy"?;)

Can I ask when you filed your Form 1? I am going to be submitting in a few weeks here.

Filed 12/29/18, got the email 2/7/19. And that's with the shutdown in there too! Now that's service! Getting closer to what it should be.

Thanks! This will be my first NFA gun... probably only one for a while, too. Manufacturing an SBR with a T25 Torx wrench and a new stock to replace the pistol brace on my 8" Sig MPX. I went the Form 1 route instead of Form 4 for the eFile wait time reduction, sounds like it was a reasonable decision.

You don't get to choose. A Form 1 is for the MAKER of an NFA firearm, a Form 4 for the TRANSFER of an NFA firearm.
What you DO get to choose is whether to file your Form 1 as a paper application or electronic.

Sure I get to choose. I chose to purchase my firearm as a pistol and then file a Form 1 to make an SBR rather than buying a factory SBR and having to transfer on a Form 4. The overwhelmingly dominant factor in that choice was the reported processing times on e-Filed Form 1s vs. Form 4s.

But thanks.

Half of my NFA items are e-file form 1's and I don't carry any of them around with me digital or physical. Never been asked by a Fed to produce a tax stamp but if I do I will get their email address and send it to them because the PDF is all they provided me.

Congrats on the Approval, I asked the exact same question when I got my first one approved years ago. Now go play!

Edit: Now that you've done it, future e-file form 1's will be even easier/quicker.

You don't have to prove anything to a federal agent, unless they happen to be an ATF officer.
