How often do you clean your EDC?

I wipe down and inspect weekly!

I prefer to shoot my EDC at least once a month. I have a identical gun to my EDC that I shoot for range practice. Due to so much overtime at work I shot my EDC yesterday for the first time since December. It did run 100% but I think three months is pushing the envelope a little too far.

To be perfectly honest I don't remember, but its been at least a year. I could see some dust between slide and frame and at end of barrel. I ran old toothbrush along frame/slide both sides and used Q-tip to get lint out of barrel end. Went to range and enptied couple mags worth no problemo. In my defense the R9 is PIA to dissasemble.

Every couple months I'll do a field strip and wipe and lube. And it gets shot usually a few times a month.

Never had an issue.

I try to shoot my EDC at the range once every two weeks. Once a month I wipe down with gun scrubber, lightly oil and reassemble. Once every 3-4 months is a complete scrub of the barrel and frame. Gives me confidence in my Nano when I open it up once in a while.

I clean them after every range session.
If it's rainy then they'll get a wipe down at the end of everyday they're with me in the rain.
If I haven't made it to the range in a while, at least once a month they'll get a look over, wipe down and oil.

Weekly, doesn’t take long to AP brush off any dust or lint and lubricate.

Hardly ever. I wipe it off with an oily cloth every couple off weeks.

I rotate out that round, or rechamber by placing it in the chamber and letting the slide down. I am EDC’ing an HK VP9 and the external extractor is generous enough that I can press down the tail end of the extractor raising the extractor hook over the case rim so the extractor nose doesn’t take a beating. Then I press check to confirm the extractor has a grip on the case rim.

Obviously this won’t work for pistol with internal extractors like 1911’s or those with external extractors that don’t allow enough leverage to pull the extractor hook up. In that case I just rotate that round into the magazine if no obvious set back is apparent and chamber a different round first.

I have went several months without cleaning or lubing during stretches where I didn’t make it to the range. When I did finally get out to shoot I went as-is to see how they held up. I haven’t had a failure under these circumstances so far.

I’ve done this with a Glock 26, a p938, an XDS, an XDSC Mod 2, LC9s, Pico, LCP II, Colt Defender, Shield and almost certainly a few other autoloaders I’m forgetting. I’ve also done the same with my revolvers and they were fine, but that’s to be expected.

I do now at least once a quarter. A year a so or go I shot my EDC, which is a pocket carry, at practice, and white stuff poofed out the barrel with the first shot. That's when I switched to a pocket holster with a closed end on the barrel side, and decided to clean the pistol more regularly.

I usually field strip my PPS M2 once a month to blow out any lint that may have accumulated while carrying.

I blow it off/out with compressed air periodically (I remember as I am walking thru the garage ... I keep 3 cans pressurized ) and unload, field-strip and wipe it down every month, or so, at which time I closely inspect the chambered round for changes in length. With one of my LULAs I can easily and quickly unload & reload the mag(s).

For a belt holstered gun, I might wipe it down when I think about it or shoot it. With modern polymers and steel treatments there isn't much that's going to affect it just by carrying it.

For a pocket gun, generally every couple weeks or after I shoot it. I may not strip it if I dont fire it, but I look it over for pocket fuzz, especially at the hammer area.

For a revolver, I generally check it over every time I go to strap it on. It doesn't take much to pop out the cylinder and lift the star a bit and make sure it's not fuzzed up.

Never had a failure due to dirt.

Every couple weeks, weekly in the summer as I sweat a lot. I tend to wipe the exterior down at least nightly when it goes in the safe, again because of sweat.

When I weather is decent I try to shoot it at least some every range session (usually weekly) so a quick cleaning afterwards is pretty easy to manage.

For setback? I rotate out which round is chambered when I do and will periodically check it with a calipers. In 10 years of EDC I've never actually had a round set back from repeated clambering, I have always carried Golden Saber or HST.

I pocket carry, and I work outside, so if it rains or I've been sweating a lot, it could be daily. But here in the cooler months it weekly to blow the lint and grit out, monthly to strip and clean. She sounded a trifle gritty this last week...but I also got caught in the rain. I've only had one round that looked like it had setback a bit, and I change out the ammo in my mags every few months

Hardly ever. I have 3 of, basically, the same firearm I rotate in and out of carry service (2 Kahr CW9's and a CM9.) I swap the CW9's for each other once a month, then take the previous carry piece, blast the ammo out of it and reload with new, then it sets in the desk drawer until next month. I clean them maybe once a year, all at once; I have never had a failure related to the pistol, ever, with the Kahrs... and that's no lie. Operator error, yes... something like not getting the magazine locked in all the way, for example. There was a previous thread somewhere about how often do you cycle your carry piece or some such, I was surprised at how many people don't fool with their carry guns. Personally, I cycle my carry piece every day. I at least eject the magazine and do a mock reload, or do a partial reload drill with an extra magazine. I clear the pistol and reload it most days. I have never had a problem with bullet setback.

I never unload to clean instead I shoot the EDC once a month at least 4 mags. After that I’ll do a little dry fire wipe it down run a bore snake through it, loaded it goes back in holster and on belt.

Don’t believe in any unnecessary handling or playing with firearms.

Every few hundred rounds, or for guns that don't get carried often about once per quarter.

Since I shoot most of my EDC each week, I clean them as soon as I get home from the range. Every month, I put them and mags into the sonic cleaner with Ballistol milk, they take a can of compressed out and clean out the striker, firing pin channels.
