I sure hope not, haven’t taken it apart yet. Yeah bolt closed/ forward flush against the breach

Update: the bolt is not repeat not original equipment! I put my 22/45 bolt in and measures 6&7/8”!

That's a 5/16 inch difference. Something's not adding up. I don't think just a different bolt is going to make that difference. Your headspace is going to be WAAAY out of spec if it is that much difference, and I don't think it would work at all.

I was just trying to get a different size on the barrel that made sense. I’m probably gonna send it to Ruger and have them go over it.

take a picture of the bolt face... it does not look after market from here and are you sure your using your ruler right... hooking over vs pushing to sometimes makes a difference on tape measures

actually I believe that is a MK II maybe a MKII if it has the chamber indicator... and they came in 5.5 bull... 6 7/8 bull "government model" - 6 7/8 taper and 10" semi bull barrel adjustable sighted... in standard production 4 ,4.75 inch and 6" fixed sight taper barrels... there may have need 8 inch custom runs but I am not familiar with them although I bet some 10" were cut down along the way :)

I love mk II's have 5.5. 6 7/8 bulls and a 6 inch fixed sight cant have to many of em :)

Doesn’t matter anymore, sent it to Ruger to restore it to factory specs.

Nope sent it off to Ruger. They will go over it with a fine tooth comb. Tell me what I have / need and how much to repair/restore it.
I doubt there is anything wrong with it or that it is an oddball but we will see... you will anyhow. still not sure why you sent it back

The customer service rep was amazingly helpful and suggested it. I also agree that if altered, I’d like to know it’s safe to shoot. Nothing screams bad buy like a gun exploding in your face.

Labguy47,
Thank you for taking care of those two lost souls and beautiful pistolas.
I've looked for and exact Mark for a while, so congrats.

Thank you for the heads up.
However, they don't list used guns on line. However if the cost is $300 + shipping and local fees I'm closer to a new one Mark IV.
Sadly, because I have handle the mark IV and sound a lil on the heavy side for a plinker.

It’s actually 7.5” but they call it 8”. And yes some of the older models had longer barrels (it’s a Mk II) on the target models.
Ruger seems to measure their barrels from the breech face, which may account for the difference. Makes sense since this is how the ATF measures them too.....

Nice guns, espescially the .22!

A .22lr is not gonna "blow up in your face" it could at most fire out of battery and is not usually a big deal at all... if ya are wearing eye protection anyhow...

Got a call yesterday from Ruger repair,

I’ve still got the scar from a G22 that went Kaboom on me. I remember it well, wouldn’t care to repeat it. I think that one hurt more than getting hit by a car on the Harley. But like all things, if you do it long enough something is bound to happen.

yep there is a big difference between a 22lr and a .40 S&W power wise...

No way, say it ain’t so!!! I’m gonna have to rethink my whole exit strategy from my tactical Segway to my American 180.
