New Ruger Security 9 Compact

May I ask what new and innovative features of this handgun do you find interesting?

Sure. Although, I didn't say it had new and innovative features. I have a Security 9 and like it. I find a compact version interesting. They are solid guns at a great price point, IMO. I'm interested to see how it does in a very popular and saturated market segment.

I'm curious then, is it the actual handgun or it's performance in the marketplace that you find interesting?

A polymer framed pistol in 9mm that is a chopped version of a service-sized polymer framed 9mm pistol? This may be an excellent product, but it is about the least interesting thing that could be released in the market today. It's probably quicker to list the large firearm manufacturers that don't offer such a thing than to list the ones that do.

This is like a bakery announcing a new entry into the sliced white bread marketplace that will be white and sliced and bready. Might be delicious, but it is not "interesting."

It might be interesting for someone looking for both a compact/carry pistol and a companion for the PCC, who doesn't care for the SR9.

I like a new gun same as anybody else, but does the world really need another Glock 26, a quarter of a century after it's release?

I had a chicken ceasar salad for lunch today. I order them from a lot of different restaurants. I like them. They combine flavors that I like with some protein and low carbs. It's one of my go-to standards. I'm all for a bunch of restaurants offering them.

I am not about to go on a food board with a snapshot of a menu listing a chicken caesar salad and say "Looks interesting." Unless I'm doing it as a joke.

I had to start pocket carrying or carrying OWB due to some back and neck injuries. I carry a VP9SK when carrying OWB, as the shorter grip conceals better. Not everyone can afford $500 to $600 for a gun, and this Ruger fits that role for people who can't or don't want to spend that much on a gun. The more options we have, the better off we are.

Looks like this topic started taking the low road right after the original post.
All the OP said was that the gun looked interesting and that there seems to be gaining interest in 10 round compacts.
First off there are diehard Ruger fans that will buy anything that Ruger makes, just like there are diehard fans of other guns.
I bought one of the Security 9’s when they first came out. I liked the gun, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. I gave it to my sister for Christmas and she loved it. She told my that when she went to the range to shoot, she rented a Glock and a SR9 and didn’t like either. She said that the Security 9 fit her hand just right. I got the biggest sister hug. I think she would find the compact interesting.
But just because you don’t find anything interesting about this new compact, doesn’t mean that someone else won’t.

Huh. Seems like an undue amount of stank in this thread. Not sure why.

I like my P30sk, and I can see this filling the same role at a much lower price point for someone wanting this type of offering.
Yes, but a lot of the discussion rightly points out that the normal price point, not the lower one, is no longer being served by Ruger. Foolish on their part it seems to me.

I don't think I'm catching your meaning. Can you clarify please?

Are you saying that ruger's increase in price has limited the value?

I thought they were talking about the SR9, thus my reply. I’m all about single stack 9s. Got any pictures of the afore mentioned?
There are guns besides Ruger?:what::neener::rofl:

The ‘s was for plural. Not single stack. As for as I know they don’t make a single stack model.

No, I'm saying they introduced an economy model with fewer features and discontinued the parent model which had been more expensive. More or less.
