More than a million new high-capacity ammunition magazines flooded into California during lifted ban

The guys from RW arms was on Blaze today they when Chad asked them how many mags went to CA. They replied "all of them" lol.

To put perspective on the # of mags they might have had in inventory, they said they destroyed 76,000 bump stocks.

A million ROTFLMAO

What irritated me about this whole debacle was how retail orders for customers in other states largely got put on the back burner. Gunmagwarehouse
expected me to gladly wait a few weeks to get my mags shipped to my state. Sorry, Cali laws aren't my prob, order canceled.
Sure seems like a small price to pay for something that will ultimately benefit all of us. But, if all you can think about is me, mine, and ours, then that is your right, I guess.

I am sorry that you feel that way. I for one am willing to be inconvenienced to help our brothers and sisters in a oppressed state.

We are at war for our freedoms that are suppose to be guaranteed by our Continuation and Bill of Rights. We have to be willing to fight on all fronts.

Congratulations to everybody in California that was able to take advantage of Freedom Week!!!

I'm fortunate to be able to buy magazines of any size any time I want. I, for one, am perfectly happy to have my gratification temporarily delayed if it means a fleeting opportunity for exercising a right can be grasped by some poor beleaguered Californian.

Of course, I'm also one of those "free staters" who does not want all the pro-gun people to abandon the states with bad gun laws. I want them to stay and get them fixed!

I'd guess that 1 million is on the low side.

Overwhelmingly, most retailers took orders till 4:59 last Friday and have been shipping all week long.

You have to assume that their lawyers looked into the "bought" term and ndecided that bought meant you bought them and not when money changed hands.

When you place the order... you have a intrest in those mag regardless of when they ship and when they were paid for.

And this is the problem with the 2A proponents and society in general. All about me.

I would have been glad to wait on my order, if it meant more to a state whose freedoms just opened up.

They should fight to keep their rights in their own state or move if they cannot. But their rights are no more important than the rights of others. I believe Ben86 gave an honest reply; more than many others I have seen.

As soon as judge Benitez ruled with judgement on 3/29/19, I believe many in CA knew time was short and window of opportunity before CA AG could act was small. Many thought judge ruling on Friday before Monday state holiday (Cesar Chavez day) was intentional but we were sure glad we had a whole week!

Believe me, immediate support and action we saw by the gun community, especially by the vendors (who I am sure were calling up their lawyers/attorneys) absolutely demonstrated solidarity and comradery of 2A supporters across the nation. The usual "CA Sucks" bashing was absent and everyone was congratulating/celebrating with us and focused on getting magazines to CA. I am sure this meant a lot to many CA gun owners and we are grateful for vendors who supported us.

I for one will return the favor and support those vendors for the rest of my life.

Never imagined I would be seeing these - It was actually tearful moments seeing these ... I got to taste a bit of freedom and liberty instead of oppression.

Ummm.... they are fighting for their Rights hence the case and verdict.

Ben88 did not have any Rights denied.

Agreed. Short sighted and selfishness is a top enemy of us that are pro 2A for all.

"I guess I don't feel too bad about your few weeks, all things considered. Heck we have been waiting for many years."

And electing, or failing to defeat, the same tyrants for many years that are slowly trying to ruin the whole country in CA's image. So I don't feel sorry either.

I just consider what many retailers did to be disrespectful to the rest of the country that actually buys most of the mags.

It seems to be more about making a quick buck of CA than doing the right thing.

As someone who shares a state with you (at least I think by your profile) I’m ashamed by the lack of care for the freedoms of those who live in states less fortunate. Many act as if the gun owners in Cali, New York, Chicago went down and signed the bills that took away their rights themselves. I can already see here in Idaho that the Boise metro are is turning more liberal, not to my voting mind you. And I’ll be pissed if someone says it’s because of my voting that Idaho eventually starts down a road to less freedoms.

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again “population centers breed dependence on government, which tends to go hand and hand with a removal of certain freedoms.”

The more states whose gun rights fall the harder it will be to keep them on a national level.

From the bottom of the 2A forsaken hole of CA, things are actually looking up and perhaps turning around for us. I know that most gun owners' sentiment is "enough is enough" and "can't stand it anymore and mad as hell" and there have been multitude of lawsuits filed that we are actively fighting (17 so far).

Never know, perhaps this ruling (and judgement) by judge Benitez is the "shot heard around the world" in terms of gun rights reversal as his ruling came to many of us as a shock that anti-gun laws CAN BE REVERSED!

Yes, when you have been oppressed so long (40 years for me), you forget what freedom and liberty feels like. Now that we have this win (Yes, stayed but still a win), gives us hope for a brighter 2A future.

I don't understand this - most of us can buy magazines 52 weeks a year. California had this one week - for a while it looked like it might be half of that - in which it was legal. Sure, if I want to buy a mag I'd rather buy it when I want it rather than waiting a week or two, but remember the days of "six to eight weeks for delivery?" A mag *I* wasn't able to buy that week I can buy today. No one in California has that freedom.

I might think that retails were only interested in "a quick buck" if they'd hiked their prices, but from what I've seen none of the major distributors did that, and some actually ran sales. I'm sure they still made money, but so what? They make money when they sell me a mag too.

Now, if, say, CA and WA had both only had a one-week window of opportunity and everyone decided to sell to CA only I'd have reason to gripe, but that isn't what happened here.

Plus, a 9th circuit ruling has the potential to benefit gun owners outside CA, and if this case goes to SCOTUS it could be good for everyone. Yes, it might go badly for us too, but if reports are to be believed (I'd still like to see sources!) there's a million standard capacity magazines out there in circulation that otherwise wouldn't have been. How is that a bad thing?

Sure ok, I guess CA has rights to all magazine sales for a couple weeks.

I fully support the efforts in court hard won, seriously great job!

I just think how retailers gave buyers in other states, even with pending orders, the middle finger is BS. Just my opinion.

You have a perfect right to that opinion, and a right to express it, I for one won't fault you on it.
IMO tho, retailers made the right call in supporting Cali residents short opportunity to get ahold of the correct size magazines for their guns.

Wow. The whole point of things like constitutional rights is that sometimes a minority (say, CA gun owners) will lose elections and will have a majority (say, CA voters who don't own guns) cram laws on them that take away their rights. At that point, the courts are supposed to step in and protect those rights, even though the majority is against them. That's the whole point of the BoR - to protect people against the will of the majority.

As for your advice to "move away," I hope they ignore it. Maybe you need to re-read the parts of the Constitution that come before the Bill of Rights. If you did, you might notice that states send senators to Washington, and districts send reps, etc. If all the gun owners move to 10 "free states," they won't be free for long - Congress will just start passing the same kind of laws that CA has, only it will apply nationally. You want gun owners to stay dispersed among all the states - or at least dispersed enough to keep a majority in one or both houses of congress.

If I'm in a restaurant at the edge of a desert, and a man comes staggering in, literally moments away from dying of thirst, I am perfectly happy for the waiter to bring him a glass of water before he refills mine. And I'm a pretty thirsty boy. There are just some occasions when you need to let someone cut the line for a good reason.

Maybe. Maybe. But it's a long way from the level of widespread, common use of magazines with more than 10 rounds. What percentage of gun owners own even a single suppressor? If it's 1% I'll eat my hat.

Just to be clear, I think suppressors should be readily available. I'm just saying that we're not doing ourselves any favors conflating this with magazines. Let's get a clear win on the magazine issue first.

When the law on trusts changed Silencer Shop sent in around 10,000 applications.

Better start the grill.

I was about to order some mags when this ruling came down. They were standard capacity mags that were illegal in CA. I gladly put aside my order to allow those in CA a chance to get them while they could.

And I thank you for that.

I was waiting for someone to make a comment like Bens. And honestly when I 1st saw a cpl sites say they were putting CA before the others states I did think that kinda sucks for them BUT I hoped that they would see the light.

One can hope...... and I'm glad to see many have seen the light

I would love it if this happened here in Massachusetts.
I would have a shopping list prepared for all the mags I want to buy.
Since 1994 I've known nothing but 10 round limit magazines
