If you've got a favorite hunting rifle, please share! And share why you like it the best.
Here's mine, probably the best rifle in my lineup. I've got in the neighborhood of ten centerfire bolt rifles and this one is the one I would grab if I knew a trophy hunting prize were on the line.
It is a Kimber 8400M Classic in 270 WSM. This is a circa 2009 production rifle.
The scope mounts are Warne bases with Leupold PRW rings. The scope is a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10X40, my first Vari-X III from back in 2002. It is an excellent scope.
Out of the box, I tuned the trigger a little to give a true clean break. I also cleaned up the barrel channel to ensure a true float. The rifle is glass bed from the factory.
On the range: I have only tried a few loads but found quickly that this rifle would shoot 130 gr. Sierra GK bullets in front of RL19 powder very well. I am also intrigued by the magic of this rifle whereby it does not seem to recoil badly. Perhaps the fit and 1" pad. Why is it the best? I had purchased a Weatherby Vanguard stainless rifle which is Sub 3/4 MOA. After several 200 yd groups I came to believe that this Kimber can actually best the Vanguard in accuracy. A sweet and faithful shooter.
In the field: This rifle is slim and lighter than most which gives a natural and very stable hold over a rest. I realized that I could hold it steadier than about any rifle I have. Because I have a fair stream of new guns coming in (my hobby) I actually have not taken this rifle out more than a few times. It seems I always have a new project to try out. However my shots on deer at 30 yds, 100 yds, and over 350 yds. were all DRT. with the Sierra 130gr. gamekings. This bullet must be a pretty good combo in this rifle. Even the close shot was authoritative yet with no blow-up of the bullet.
One of the below pics is a comparison with my excellent Ruger stainless 270 win. so you can see how the 24" Kimber looks near a 22" long action.

I bought this FN Browning Grade 1 30-06 from my Brother. Redfield German #1 reticle. 20181020_163301.jpg 20181020_163312.jpg He got a heart shot on a buck at 315 yards with it when he was 15. He hunted two years that I can remember and got whitetail both times. Made all jerky both times :D. 20181103_074828.jpg I hunted with it last season but didnt get one shot.

I've never been a fan of autoloading deer rifles, always preferred bolt actions in blued and walnut. But this rifle is quickly becoming my favorite for hunting.

nice rifle, they are super quick and the #1 reticle really makes you aim quick.

My four faves...the one on the right is a Ruger No. 1A and the one next to it is a Ruger 77 African, both in 6.5x55 SE, the second from the left is my Win M70 in 7x57 and the one on the left is a Sako Bavarian in .300 WSM. All my hunting rifles wear Leupold VX3s. I'm an old school guy and I like old school rifles.

My favorite hunting rifle is still my custom Talkeetna in .375 H&H. It's super accurate, has an incredibly smooth action, great trigger and it's 100% reliable and I've never missed an animal with it. To be honest though, I don't have another hunting rifle that is "done" since my others are all projects. Once I get the 8400 WSM figured out in terms of cartridge I plan on only having the two hunting rifles. No wood for me! :D Oh wait … I want a Caprivi in .458 Lott to hang on the wall once I've worked up a load for it.

If I’m running around in the dark hunting pigs with a thermal give me my custom 6.8 SPC. If I’m deer hunting close to the house I’m probably going to grab my Ruger M77 in 6.5x55. If I’m hunting whitetails or mule deer out west I’m probably going to tote my Winchester M70 Extreme Weather in 270 Win. If I can only have one rifle to cover all the bases, honestly, it’s probably going to be my SCAR-17.

Hi...
I have several rifles in various calibers from .22Mag up through 7mmMag., Including .243, .270, 7x57, .308 and .30/06 and the one I take when I am serious about hunting is a plain synthetic stocked 7mmMag Savage bolt action with a Leupold 3x9 scope.
Why???
It is accurate, less than an inch groups at 100yds of the bench, it is light and handy and I have never had to go look for any animal I have ever shot with it. All DRT.
I don't need to worry about messing up the ugly synthetic stock and I have total confidence in the rifle's accuracy and power to cleanly kill the game I hunt with it, mostly deer and black bear with an occasional coyote.
Is it as pretty as my Sako rifles...no, but the game animals aren't concerned with aesthetics like highly figured walnut and rosewood endcaps.

I don't really have a favorite. It depends on what I am hunting and the type of terrain that I am hunting in. When I am reaching out in the creek bottom fields I take the Bergara 6.5 CM. It has a 6X18 Vortec. I feel comfortable with it out to 500 yards with 129gr Accubond LR. For smaller open areas the Rem 700 ADL 243 works swell. It carries a 4X14.5 Nikon and will keep 95gr Ballistic Silvertips inside 1/2 MOA. When new country or mixed terrain is involved, the 300 WSM in a Savage 10 comes out of the closet. This rifle has taken the majority of my deer. It wears a 2X7 Leupold and puts 165gr Accubonds under an inch. It shoots 150gr great too, but they mess up a lot of meat.

Nice Kimber!

Up north, it was a .30-06 M700, but here in FL, all I ever get to hunt anymore is hog and this .243 Savage with its Weaver K4 drops em quick-

This one is a 99E, the plainest of the post-war lever Savages, which makes it perfect for brush work. I have a pair of fancier 99s, but they dont go in the field, lol.

Savage and .243... they get the job done.

That's actually a really hard question for me.
I have 8 "hunting" rifles, and I actually think each of them is pretty spiffy. The best one? nearly impossible unless a specific circumstance is given, and even then.....

So here are the 3 I'm actually most attached to
.375 Ruger, Abolt-2

.250AI, Savage 11

First time I’ve seen that A-Bolt of yours. I’m a fan!

I know this isnt the typical hunting rifle, but it is the one I use most for deer. Most already know that Illinois is not a centerfire rifle state.
T/C Hawken .54 that I built from a kit in 1983.
I estimate around 20 deer have fallen to this gun including my largest ever.

He hangs over, the rifle under, the mantle in my study.

When I was hunting the Catskills in NY for most of my life, my Browning BLR fit the bill. It's an old one, 1971 Belgian made in .308, with an original Redfield 4x. Most shots in the woods were < 50 yards, tops 75, but you could still reach out and touch if you had to.

Currently, hunting options have changed. My Rossi 92 in .357 is the one that fits the bill legally, locally. More open fields here in Flatlandistan and it works well with its Nikon 2-7x and 180g. hard cast Buffalo Bores.

I have nicer rifles but my favorite is the lower end Remington 700 in 30-06 that my dad bought me when I was 12. I still hunt with it and it's harvested a lot of game over the years, including a nice little mulie buck last fall. Build date would have been late 1980s.

There's no doubt that nostalgia is a big reason it's my favorite.

My fave was my old Ruger#1B in .243. Shot it for about two decades before throat went. Was a half incher w handloads so when it opened up it broke my heart. Didnt have the $ to rebarrel it back then

Id like to check out a Merkel Helix. Think a shop down south deals in em. Wont be buying one this yr. Do like my beater 760 in 35 rem. Sold my #1 RSI. .......so i could get a 1A. One w good wood lol. Ive had a few dozen rifles over the years.....nothing fancier than a #1. Some liked better than others. Just dont need more stuff....need more time
