LaPierre asked to resign

This isn’t the first time... Don’t remember exactly what year it was, maybe 20 ago, there was a big ‘p***ing” contest about who was running the NRA,and some heads rolled....so what goes around come around.

I did like his debate a few years ago with that ‘looney’ anti-gun British chick.

If there are enough Board Members who want him out, I don't think he has a choice.but to go.
They need to convince enough other Board Members to agree with them.

The NY Times has a better story about it ironically. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/26/business/nra-wayne-lapierre-oliver-north.html

Brief summary of the NYT article which is relatively straight forward.
Pres. of the NRA, Oliver North asked LaPierre to resign and LaPierre said no and said basically that North (allied with the NRA's advertising agency and the media programs) was trying to blackmail him and other staff. A lot of this has to do with the concerted legal and commercial attack such as New York on the NRA crimping its income, expenses and salaries for some folks through the roof especially dealing with its media agency and Ollie's media contract with them The media agency might also have created some campaign finance issues, or not depending on how the shell companies were arranged during the 2016 campaign. But the coordination and inkind issues are difficult to prove one way or another and the Dems risk having a lot more problems if they overturn that rock. Ironically, even the central clearinghouse Trace, is funded by similar shell companies pushing Bloomberg's agenda.

LaPierre asked to resign
I sure wish they would get rid of him and get a better representative for the NRA.

It is like having an organization that our opponents constantly seek to demonize and for a spokesman we choose the Devil.

Why must we insist on helping them?

Just one man's opinion ...

From the article cited in the OP:

"According to someone we’ve spoken to who’s in a position to know, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre met with influential board members and fund-raisers last night and was asked for his resignation. The meeting reportedly became heated and LaPierre stormed out. He then responded to the demand with a scathing letter to those involved, refusing to step down."

This is unexpected, and significant. LaPierre & co have filled the Board of Directors with cronies, and have changed the bylaws to prevent a rank-and-file revolt, such as the one that occurred in 1977 at the convention in Cincinnati. The fact that some of these insiders are calling for LaPierre's resignation amounts to nothing less than a palace coup. Whether or not LaPierre survives this week, his days are clearly numbered. Which is a good thing.

LaPierre is on the receiving end of some of the same tactics he used against Neal Knox back in the 90's. What goes around, comes around.

The anti-gun New York times.

In his own letter to the board later on Thursday, North said he would create a special committee to investigate allegations of financial impropriety, including “allegations of financial misconduct related to Mr. LaPierre,” according to The New York Times.

Lawsuit NRA vs Ackerman Mcqueen, inc and Mercury Group, INC. 2019
The official lawsuit https://www.wsj.com/public/resources...article_inline

NRA vs Ackerman Mcqueen Inc. (parent company of) Mercury Group Inc.

NRA is a non-profit under New York Law. New York changed a law.

Col. North has a side agreement with Ackerman/Mercury Group. This conflicts with New York law.

The NRA is suing for information on accounting and the North contract info.

Ackerman/Mercury is not forthcoming with accounting records/billing. This is the reason for the lawsuit.

Look at the list of grants (money) given to support gun related activities.

This was Neal Knox. His son, Jeff Knox post online anti-NRA information. Imo.

Those of you who think that the Second Amendment can be separated from other Constitutional issues are ignorant of how the Constitution works and how a rock is destroyed. You take the support from under rock a piece at a time and pretty soon it collapses from its own weight. Undermine the concepts of liberty (being able to make your own choices concerning yourself and your family), property rights, laws against illegal search and seizure and pretty soon you have no right to protect your self or your property. We are very close to that now so those of you who don't really believe that the Constitution was provided to keep men free and government limited just keep on chipping away.......

No, national media, research, planning and placement co. which handled 2016 campaign spending for the nra. It then moved some money around to other affiliated companies.

The source money probably came from the nra ila unless someone really screwed up as the nra itself cannot directly spend on political ads etc and retain its current non profit status.

Ap has a new story up in last hour where LaPierre fights back against Ollie and Ackerman McQueen ad agency. Ollie has a media contract with an unspecified salary from them. Nra is suing the Ackerman agency over billing records and has paid them tens of millions over the years. Nratv is one of the reasons for this cost.[/QUOTE]
