I'm thinkin' I might want one of these

As a faithful watcher of many Law & Order TV show reruns, IMHO a company officer can be held criminally liable for deaths that result from their intentional negligence.
Those prosecutors on the show go after all kinds of corporate bad guys once they realize how they intentionally contributed to someone's death.
Yep, they charge them with homicide and try to send them to the slammer.
TV is based out of California and New York. The writer's base their scripts on laws on those states. "Intentionally" means you meant for a person to die. "Reckless" means again, you meant to do what happened when it comes to motor vehicles. "Negligent" means a reasonable person would've concluded that such an action would've caused X result. This is why it's sooo much easier to prove negligence compared to recklessness, as there is no "intent" in negligence. Now depending on how you do your testing, you could follow the Spanish model, and only test say, one out of every 5 guns off the assembly line, and say "Hey that's how the proof house in Spain does it, and lots of guns out there are stamped having been proofed in Spain." Meanwhile..., out of the four untested guns, one could have a defect. Now would a reasonable person agree that the Spanish model of testing was a good one?

Further, it has to go to court for the above to matter one little whit...., IF the corporation doesn't have large assets, it can simply fold, turn over what it does own to the plaintiff, and that's that. You cannot get blood from a stone, especially if that stone doesn't exist any longer. This is why some states you will never see a barrel making company, since those states say if the corporation can't pay, you can go after the corporate officers as individuals. Other states, NOPE, they are not held liable.

I know what you mean.
Many of the Law & Order shows are based on actual cases where they change around the scenarios so they don't appear to be the same cases that have been in the news.
I'm pretty sure that someone researched cases for ideas to write some of the 20 years of shows that they produced.
I think that while there's never a guarantee that any product can't fail, in the overall scheme of things black powder guns are safe.
And most outfits are run by responsible enough people, especially in the US.
Just look at what happened to Lyman with their defective guns and recall, despite all of the proof testing laws in Italy some lemons still made it into the hands of US consumers.
Who would suggest that people should not buy Lyman/Investarms guns or Italian guns any more?
Where does the mistrust end?
There's still better technology & steel today then there was back in the old days, and this new outfit is not making barrels like the old, fragile damascus shotguns.
If there's a problem with their guns, we'll find out soon enough.
But without some kind of evidence that their guns or manufacturing practices are unsafe, I wouldn't worry about it.

Some guys on thefiringline have ordered the Diable break-action model that uses 209 primers.
They were told that it will take about 4 weeks for the guns to be built.
And the company offered them the option of ordering either a blue or plated model.
They look better in these photos that the computer rendering of it.
It's almost like the guns are being custom made for them.

I have to say I really like the looks of them. I wonder if they would honer a request for longer barrels.

I wonder if they received them yet, and how they like them?
I want one, but if I get one, I want the pistol grip to fit better than that one on top.
I think a big gap between the grip panels would be a bit uncomfortable.

I haven’t seen any reports yet...

Some folks got tired of the delays and waiting for longer than was promised for delivery.
So they asked for and received refunds.
Quite frankly, it seems that 6 weeks may end up turning into 6 months.
The company website changed the delivery wait time to 8 weeks and even that seems to be an unrealistic expectation.

I've been thinking about these and have been wondering why I haven't seen any updates on them or so few videos online of them. I think you're right in the post you made in January: they all look like they're being custom made or to put it more accurately are being made once orders come in.

We had a meeting at my work last week and the President/owner was complaining about making too many extra parts that go into inventory and wind up on a shelf but are still taxed because finished parts have value. I have to assume that the manufacturer of these Diablo guns are trying to keep inventory to an absolute minimum. No inventory means long lead times, long lead times lead to cancelled orders, cancelled orders mean less sales.

I'd like to know why it takes 8 weeks to ship a finished Diablo. Do they only have one guy working on the production floor making them?

I'll reserve JUDGEment. Up close it doesn't take much. The LaMat shot slinger only uses 6-00 pellets and 30 grains and is, for close quarter, effecteve.

New thread title ?

I'm thinking when will I ever be able to get one of these.

Found a couple of very very very short videos of them so they do actually exist and they seem to have shipped some out at some point I hope they do make some more I'd like a bulldog and a Diablo but I'm not paying 400 bucks to go on a waiting list

Thank you for posting the videos.
I find it strange and odd that both videos are so short.
Also that both posters do not have any other videos posted on their youtube accounts.
The 1st poster listed the link to the 2nd video the day after it was posted on youtube.
If these were shipped to legitimate customers then they seem to be among the first.
We still haven't seen any videos of either the Wrath or Bulldog models, including on the company's youtube channel or website.
It seems like a very secretive and suspicious way of doing business when a company doesn't want to fire or make any videos using their own prototypes or completed guns.

Even if the Diablo is a top shelf piece of work and everything you ever dreamed of it being, that doesn't mean the guy building or promoting it has a lick of business sense or any marketing skills whatsoever.
This is one reason why most small businesses (even ones based on a good idea) fail.

It took a while to get but they said it was a labor of love. Very nice well made and fun to shoot. I'm sure I'll get comments about the leaning back shots but recoil is very light on these.

Hi Don, Welcome to THR.

Are you the manufacturer or an end user? If so, when did you place your order?

After not seeing any of these appear, ten months later now, I was thinking this vaporware is a scam.

I've done some research about the use of Blackhorn 209, and the company website is quite clear that the powder
requires pressure from a very tight fitting projectile in order to ignite reliably and properly.

The company highly recommends the use of sabots for that very reason.
Even tight patched round balls do not always provide enough of a gas seal to contain the compression needed for BH 209 to ignite each and every time.

In other words, just because a gun will accept 209 primers, doesn't mean that BH 209 will work in it.
It may or may not depending on how tight the projectile is loaded and the method of sealing the powder in the bore.
Perhaps without rifling, the smooth bore can be adequately sealed with the use of over powder cards.
But in a rifled bore, that's more difficult to accomplish without a sabot.
This is why I use 777 or real black. I never get hang fires.
I'd start with a small charge of fffg and slowly increase it till I found max velocity for the barrel length. With that short barrel, I bet the charge doesn't get over their recommended load.

End user and I was worried also. I originally ordered two but cancelled one and was about to cancel the other when they said they are about to ship, and I got it and glad I did. I'm about to order another one right now. They were behind on production but they are about to get caught up. This is not their primary business, so it took them longer than they thought but it's worth the wait. These things are very well made. I have the wood and black one but am ordering the wood and chrome or stainless one.

I just got my hands on one of these. I heard some people were having a wait but it looks like they've got themselves all caught up. The quality of this item seems top notch. You can really tell that They take a lot of pride in their product simply based on the packaging the ship it in. everything was pristine and very well kept. The item came to me just as expected and even included a very nice stowaway bag. I can’t wait to take this thing out to the range because it’s sure not to disappoint. Discussing recoil Management is kind of moot since you’re able to pick your own loads. If anybody is still scratching their heads about the quality of this product… scratch no more! This thing is a winner!
