If you had the means to make a collection of your favorite gun make, and model, what would you choose to collect.
Do you already have a collection, or the beginning of one?
What are you collecting or would choose to collect?
I am not necessarily talking about investment grade collecting, but just for pure enjoyment.
I find myself with three Ruger single Sixes. Three Remington 870s.
I know some if you have dozens of the same model.
Whatcha got and why?

I would choose to collect revolvers of the past, especially archaic and unconventional designs.

Savage Navy Revolvers, Bodeos, Glisentis, French Ordnance revolvers, Swiss revolvers, Galands, LeFaucheux Revolvers, some of the crazy ass 12 shot guns that were made, and the like.

And they would be displayed behind glass in chronological order.

And I’d marry Blake Lively, and drive a brand new GMC pickup, and I’d have a pony too.

Over years, I have created an unintentional collection of Winchester lever action development. One day I opened the safe, scratched my head and said “i might as well start filling in the gaps” now I have an
1873,1886,1892,1894,1895. I’d like to get an 1876 in 45-60

I guess I'm a cheap date. The only thematic acquiring I have done is in 30-40. I have an original Krag, a Krag sporter, a Ruger No.3 and a "Browning" 1895, all the 30-40 flavors. Were I more financially liberated, I would like an original 1895 in 30-40, an 1894 Carbine, and a Norwegian Krag, which is off theme as they are chambered in 6.5x55, but still...

I also have a long list of "lottery" guns, but they are not themed per se. Although one of them might be an H&H or McKay Brown double rifle...in 30-40!
The 1895 is a 30-40 Carbine I picked up this year!

What I’d give for a double rifle

I’m very drawn to Yugoslavian (or Serbian to be more accurate) guns. I already have an AK underfolder of Yugo make as well as two M57 Tok pistols. Plan on getting an fixed stock Yugo RPK too. Though once I get those, I would like to move on to S&W Classic blued revolvers (like a model 29 or 19).

Ljutics, particularly Space Guns and Selkas. Don't have any yet, and will probably be a Mono-Gun first. Otherwise Colt revolvers, which I have owned a few of over the years, but none currently. :( I do still have a few Mosin Nagants, down to 4 from a dozen.

It was an "Ahh Haah moment" many years ago when I walked into a gun shop and worked the action on a Winchester Model 52 for the first time. At that moment I knew this was not the average inexpensive .22 bolt rifle....but something much better built.

The collection continues to grow. Still looking for an early very rare factory stainless steel barreled unit.

I got a '67 Ruger10/22 SPC and a standard, so was looking for an RSI to match.
Never got one, and don't own either of the other '67's anymore.

Do have a fingergroove again, '70.
Pops has the .44 mag version.
I like Ruger #1s............sold my RSI. Wouldn't mind a 1A and a 1B. Two..........hardly a collection.

Had a Python, got rid of it. Still got my Commander.
Would like a Woodsman Match Target.

Never got into collecting a certain model/brand.
Have owned a dozen different 870's over the years, and that many 1100's.
Had a couple of Smith stainless revolvers.

All that stuff is gone.

While I had fun, target shot and hunted with a bunch of stuff......I have learned I'm no collector, am a user, and don't need much.
It is hard to not see a cool of rifle or handgun and buy it.
But I after 30 plus yrs of this stuff, have finally developed the self control.

Just got a reddot sight. OK, now I need a .22rf pistol for it.
Could do steel challenge.
Nope.
Tempting as it may be............I don't hunt squirrels much and the reddot was a freebie, replacement for a messed up pistol scope.
Too big a dot for what I'd want.

Not gonna buy a gun to use it. YES............the thought did actually cross my mind ;)
But I resisted.

I am currently collecting 3rd Gen S&W's. Still looking for the 10mm version.

Me too and me too. The third Gen's kind of found me...I had a cousin who worked as an Arson Investigator, and they were issued 6904's. I was offered the chance to shoot it, and fell in love. Currently have a 5904, 6904, 5903, and a fitted 669 slide and barrel to go with it, a 4013 TSW, a 5946, and value line 908 and 457. Just missed a deal on a 4506, and I've been working on a guy with a 10mm, but he won't even let me see it....

I don't really see myself as a collector, but I sure do seem to go for a 1911 whenever o have new gun money. Sure they are all slightly different. Full size rail/no rail, double stack, commander bobtail, CCO, Ultra compact, 9mm, 10mm, .45 ACP

Still need a .38 super and probably a few more. But they all get range and holster time so they aren't safe queens, so to speak

I buy guns more for the cartridge it's chambered in than specific type.
Properly sporterized Mauser are my thing I guess. I like original ones too.

I've been shooting metallic silhouette for a number of years now and have collected guns used in that sport, most being lever guns. I have a Marlin 39A, Rossi 92 in .44 Mag, and a Winchester 94 in 30-30. In non lever guns I have a Anschutz 1712 bolt gun I shoot in silhouette matches and a Winchester 1885 low wall in .22lr. It's a lot of fun working that lever and shooting at the silhouettes.

I recently acquired a really nice S&W 15-4 in nickel and have always had a real appreciation for S&W revolvers. I've been looking at a Model 17 at an LGS for some bullseye shooting but the price is a bit high. If I won the lottery I'd have a room full of them, there is just something about the styling of them that appeals to me.

I've got S&W revolvers going back every decade to the 1880's. On top of that I've got a handful of 38 Special target models (K38's, Model 14's, Officer Model Match's) from the 1920's to the 1950's. Other than that my accumulation is fairly diverse - a couple Colt Woodsman, a variety of 9mm's, a number of 1911's including an M1911, M1911a1, Colt Sistema, Delta Elite, and so on.

I prefer having some diversity. Once I get 2 or 3 of a model I like it becomes less interesting to buy more of the same.
