SCAR got a paint job...

My favorite patterns are Multicam and old school Woodland camo. I’ve been debating on having this SCAR painted for a while and finally worked up the nerve to have it done. I am plenty impressed with the initial pictures from the guy whom did the work. I’ll pick it up Sunday and get the scope mounted back up and take it to the range next weekend. Highly recommend Patriot Firearm Coatings in Smithville, MS for Cerakote work. John Mills is top notch.

I really like that!
SCARs have never appealed to me because they look bulky (having handled a few I know they feel fine), but with that cammo it looks much less bricky!

looks like the work was well done too.

Looks good to me.

Im a cheapskate though....so just krylon my stuff. Half arsed tiger stripe. Works and doesnt look horrible. Have posted it a few times.

I did my own version of multicam on my 6.8 SPC. Wanted to do some woodland on the SCAR. If I buy a SCAR 16 it’s getting Multi-Cam for sure.

I’ve said a few times that I wish we had been issued the SCAR H in Iraq back in 2005. I know every generation of soldiers has come home talking about the guns they wish they had been issued, but the SCAR H seemed just about perfect for the missions we were running back then. I bought one as soon as I was able to afford it. Turns out it’s pretty much ideal for hunting pigs at night.

At the time, the SCAR-H was better than the MK12 and the M14 variants. The better rifle now in use in the SPR/DDM role is the CSAS- a carbine version of the AR10. I was out before I had a chance to use the CSAS.

I know that CSAS is supposed to be more accurate than the SCAR-H, but I much prefer my SCAR to my AR-10s.

I have 2 AR10's that will outperform a SCAR- one is a Larue, the other is a Delton that I modified. The SCAR H and its variants are the survivors of the ill-conceived experiment to replace the M4 in SOCOM. It was a solution looking for a problem. We decided to keep the SCAR H, to replace the MK12 and the M14 variants that were in the inventory. But the whole time, we were asking for a Carbine version of the SR25/M110, which is what the CSAS is.

I owned a Larue and it was a shooter, but I did not find it to be as reliable as my SCAR. It was also bulkier and heavier than the SCAR. I’ve also owned an Adam’s Arms 308 carbine and while it was less bulky than others, it was fairly unreliable with a suppressor. I owned a Sig 716 for a little while too. It was a boat anchor, but reliable. Not super accurate though. Had a DPMS for a little while too and it was absolute trash. That was years ago when I first started looking for an M1-A replacement. After owning all those different 308 ARs I settled on the SCAR. I still have a pair of ARs in 6.5 CM in the safe, but I think the 308 pattern AR is better as a sniper/DMR rifle than a battle rifle. Just my $0.02.
