New 11/87 vs Stoeger M3000.

I’ve owned a Stoeger and it worked fine but I’d go Remington without a second thought between the two.

Between the two I would go Remington without hesitation. There is nothing wrong with current Remington shotguns.

I own three 1187 remingtons, two 12ga and one 20ga and they have been trouble free from day one.

I bought a new 11-87 sportsman a few years ago. Within 3 months the circlip that held on the cartridge interrupter came adrift, and the interrupter fell out on the floor. Luckily a friend found it and asked if it was mine the next time I saw her!

About a year in the piston seal broke, and I had to buy a new one.

So not all good, but given the choice I'd still rather buy a Remington than a Stoeger any day of the week. If it was a Benelli it would be a closer call …

I’d get an A300 over any Stoeger and an 1187.

I am not a fan of Remington shotguns at all. That being said I would take an 11/87 over the Stoeger every day of the week. The Remington will cycle a wider variety of loads with much less recoil, is made in the USA, and has better customer service. The Beretta A300 or Mossberg 930 are both superior IMO at around the same price.

I had a Stoeger M3000 a few years go. It fed everything I tried in it, so no issues with that but I didn't like the recoil with it. I currently have a Remington V3 and a Mossberg 930, both of them recoil less than the M3000. The recoil should be less with the 1187 vs the M3000 so I would go with that, plus it should come with a lifetime warranty.

Yep... without even blinking. I think mine is near 7k trouble free rounds now but I lost track some time ago.

Recently, a fellow skeet shooter has been using a Winchester SX4 bought at a good price. Runs like a champ and I really like the stock bolt release on that gun.

Remington is currently junk. They just took bankruptcy a few months ago. The stoeger is a solid gun and even handles 3 gun competition. I used to be a huge Remington fan. But the last 15 years they have degraded to junk.

I kinda like the orange, so the offer that or is it after market. I am looking to pick a shotgun up soon and looking at the a300 and franchi.

More like over a year ago and the V3 is an excellent shotgun, so is the VersaMax.

My gun was plane jane black synthetic. It has had several paint jobs in its day, a few mods here and there, but when it turned orange some few years ago it achieved almost legendary status among a small circle of friends. It's not just an a300 anymore.... everyone calls it 'Orange Crush'.

If I were looking for an all a rounder for 6 Bill's I would pick this gun again. I like the Franchi but I prefer a gas gun for my use. Either would be a good choice for your needs.

I’ll take the Remington lifetime warranty over the Beretta warranty any day.

I had to wipe the coffee off my key board after reading the post(after 60,000 rounds), so true. if you are talking about maybe 100-150 rounds and then sitting it in your closet to wait for a boogyman to show up the stoeger may be for you.

Well I shoot 3gun with the stoeger well past 10k rounds. No issues yet. I do have an 870 express that is broken due to bad factory chamber reaming. It isn't under warranty and also the stock is starting to crack. Also not under warranty. They took the 870 which was a near flawless design and messed it up making it so cheap it's now junk. Look it up. Plenty of online data about it. Also look at Remingtons other guns like the r51 or w/e that pistol was. Any company freedom group owns has gone down hill as they cut corners in every aspect they can for profit margin gain. Sell on a name with poor quality. It's a fact. I was a Remington fan. But in all reality it's not the same company it once was.

Name one - in ANY industry - that is. American consumers have spoken loud and clear and they want CHEAP which is why China has been the gorilla in the room for the past several decades. Look at Browning or Ithaca pumps - closer in price to most semis. But look on all of the forums and folks are buying cheap Mossberg/Mavericks and Express and cheap Chinese clones. First they brag about how cheap they were; then they whine about how they're always breaking.

a good one could slip thru stoeger,s QC checker seeing eye dog. a mossburg silver reserve in 20 ga took me several days to get the internals cleaned up, honest to god when I took the butt stock off, filings-small chips fell out. I had to take it all apart and polish the guts and when it was done and in working order and fireing 35 rounds thru It, I gave it back to my friend who sold it for way less that he paid for it. I think you should choose your firearm with the over all use you will give it, and a cheaper firearm may be ok for 4-5 boxes a year hunting, but try to run it at the clay games where 200-300 rounds a week may not be many to some. three weeks ago I bought 18 flats of trap loads a CAC at a good price, I,m hopeing they last till spring.

They may well be. Quality control is the big question. Some work great right out of the box, some can be proverbial nightmares.

Not that even an exceptionally bad example couldn't be fixed as I described in this thread. And that was an early M2000, which had far more QC-related issues than current M3000 and M3500. Now it honestly runs even better than most of my Benellis so even the worst case scenario doesn't mean you're SOL at all. Personally I'm fond of inertia guns due to their brilliant simplicity and "cleanliness" in even extended shooting sessions but it's all up to you now, of course.
