Hello friends, welcome to the center fire cartridge lever action rifle 10 shot challenge.

THE RULES
You will fire 10 shots onto the approved target listed which for this challenge will be a SR-1 100 yd target. Scoring will be scored by adding up the score for all 10 shots. A shot touching a line counts as the next numbering up. For instance if a shot touches the line separating the 7 and 8 the score is a 8. A X counts as 10 points.

If you submitted your rifle in a previous challenge a new target must be submitted for this challenge

You can download the target and make copies online although however I downloaded it on a standard printer paper 8.5 x 11 inch paper from a download link provided below (thanks random) and it comes out the exact same size as a bought SR-1 target as far as bulls eye repair targets. You may use any color target or put a sticker in the center X circle if you want to help aiming as long as it fits correct. Whatever SR-1 target you get it has to have a X ring. Of course you can buy SR-1 targets also the full size will probably be better for the standing freehand classes.

I personally get mine from national target company, SR-1 full size and repair center targets.

Allowed firearms are as follows...
Any lever action rifle that fires a center fire cartridge, rim fire is not allowed

There will be four classifications.

Class 1, 10 shots at 100 yds , standing position iron sights only
Class 2, 10 shots at 100 yds, standing position optics or dot sights only
Class 3, 10 shots at 100 yds , iron sights only, benched with front rest or sand bag, bi-pod or prone position which ever way you shoot best (no rear rest allowed rifle must be shouldered)
Class 4, 10 shots at 100 yds, optics or dot sights only, benched with front rest or sand bag, bi-pod or prone position which ever way you shoot best (no rear rests allowed rifle must be shouldered)

Please include with the target submission

username
classification entered class 1, 2 , 3 or 4
score
firearm
ammunition
( if you want you can catalog group size also)

then take a pic of it and post it here, if you would post a pic of the firearm used as well.

You may submit as many targets as you wish provided it was shot with a different firearm. One target submission per firearm is allowed within the class . You can take as many tries that you want BEFORE you post your target but only post the target you want to submit for the final submission to the challenge.

The cutoff date for submissions is September 30 2019

Please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

Good luck and good shooting

Any questions such as how to post pics or qualifying firearms, or links to possible target downloads please feel free to ask

My Winchester Miroku 1886 45-70. I only tried one time given ammo is expensive, doing 10 shots sure does open up the group compared to 3 or 5 shot groups lol. I have it dialed in for HSM ammo, it may shoot better with different grain or ammo but this is what I use in it.

To note with Winchester Canadian I scored 94 with Federal 150 gr but also 94-1X with S&B ammo but had to lower elevation one notch to be in the black with S&B my official entry is with S&B since I got a 1X

Friends I was asked "would a Ruger #1 be eligible for the contest?". I was thinking more traditional lever action when I created the challenge, but a lever is a lever so any lever action is ok. Just goes to show I don't know everything about guns lol. Yes to single shot lever guns.

This is the first time I have fired this rifle in approximately a year, and these are the only ten shots I fired from it today. I took 5 what I was assuming would be sighters then went down range and liked what I saw, so I sent 5 more. This rifle is brutal to shoot prone in a t-shirt.

The pasted holes are from an AR-15 fired offhand.

I’ve got some full-size targets on order, but I figure the smaller ones should be okay for the supported classes. I shot this from the bench off a front sandbag.

This is my one and only lever action rifle, although I wouldn’t mind finding one in .357 Mag. I bought this one forever ago, shortly after graduating from high school. It’s a 1978 vintage Winchester ‘94. Other than being in desperate need of being reblued, it does pretty well. I’ve never shot a deer with it (never attempted), but it’s popped a few jackrabbits.

I’m curious to see how I do standing. Hopefully I’ll have something to show next week.

Nice I have one just like it around same year dad got for me for Christmas when I was 15, I'll post some targets by the end of challenge.

I spaced out and grabbed the wrong targets on my trip to the range. Instead of turning back, I transferred it onto the accepted SR-1 target when I got home by using the original as a stencil. If it doesn’t count I understand.

100_2679.JPG I dug out the Winchester 94 38-55 out of the back of the safe today it was made in 1923, haven't shot in a long time. Last time I tried Winchester ammo it did ok. Today I tried HSM cowboy ammo, and it did real bad but it was the only ammo I had. I use HSM in the 45-70 it does ok, but HSM in this gun is all over the place and I blame the ammo mostly because each round fired the load was not consistant, some were loaded hotter than others in the box I could tell as I fired each round, overall all the ammo is loaded light. I was so worried a couple time I checked the barrel to make sure it wasn't a squib load before firing again But for the sake of showing and info for others....

rifle was one of the last top ejects
had it Metalifed (prone to rust from sweaty fingers)

I spent most of the last two weeks up in Erie, PA; the VA hospital worked me over pretty good
since I'm now very short on time I'm going to double down and see how many more entries I can pull off......
