Looks like hunting/target firearms in the photo don't see any evil black assault rifles ,the black pistol grip shotgun looks scary . Yes choose your words carefully and keep it shut ,fully agree to fight and defend

Yea I know I am supposed to be upset at the "horrifying" overreach of the gov.....but frankly, in this particular instance it seems to have worked out pretty well.....

A guy with a documented history of mental illness, controlled with meds presumably, makes threats repeatedly, has the skills to back those threats up, has a tendency to get easilly agitated, and is , according to his father, is drinking heavily.

There was an investigation followed by a trip to the VA for an evaluation...which was voluntarily extended by the guy.......

Seems like in this particular instance, a guy who appeared to be on the edge got the help he needed

The first problem I had was the “self defense” part and lack of a direct quote. So, I went and looked for the direct quote that action was taken upon.

“If Antifa gets to the point where they start killing us, I’m going to kill them next,"

That may or may not lead to a legitimate self defense case.

In any case everyone knows you are in a better offensive position if the defense doesn’t know your plan.

So, yeah this an other things like “trespassers are shot, survivors are shot again” signs and such are never a good idea.

That said, what did you expect from these new laws?

Unfortunately with all the slaughtering and killing going on these days, even joking about it can get one in deep do do. Be it a Marine or otherwise, It seems that an abundance of caution is not necessarily out of order. Better safe than sorry.

Certainly a slippery slope though.

It would have been far preferable to say nothing, or perhaps, "We remain prepared to respond appropriately should these masked fascists resort to violence."

I’d love to side with this guy but there’s two ways you win a real fight.

1. A surprise attack that the opponent doesn’t see coming.

2. Overwhelming force or firepower that your opponent can’t defend against.

He should have just kept his mouth shut. He would have been fine until he stated he had a plan on exactly how he was going to take them out.

I disagree with better safe than sorry.
Detain the person, not steal his property...
It would be proper protocol to arrest someone for suspicion. There is no access to firearms if you are being detained.
Make it so the person had to be evaluated within the time frame of detention without charges. Decide if it's legit and move on to releasing or pressing charges.

Considering the statements he made and the fact that he was heavily drinking alcohol while taking medications for mental problems, I think they made the right decision.

Kohfield told Crenshaw that Congress needed to take immediate steps to declare antifa a terrorist organization. Otherwise, he and other veterans would have no choice but to begin systematically killing antifa members “until we have achieved genocide.”

“I figured that the key to de-escalating the situation was to not be the most violent person in the room,” he said. “It was to be the scariest person in the room.”

Doesn't sound like a stable person to me. I'm no fan of the Red Flag Laws and definitely recognize the chance of abuse of this power, but in this case I think it is was a prudent action.

I hear you, and don't disagree with that point of view. Some crazy friggin times we find ourselves in.

Be well

Seems pretty strange that people say stupid things when drunk </sarcasm>

Making threats
History of behavioral problems and disorders that can predict violence
Accumulating weapons

That’s close enough to our limited sets of valid predictors to make this a reasonable action.
