I'm looking at getting some bullets very soon. Trying to decide on either the round nose or the match winner. This will be for my AR9 that I built with a 16in Faxon barrel. My uses are for IDPA and USPSA. need to hit a 135 pf. I have been using a 125gr hytek coated bulle. Just want to go to a jacketed to reduce leading, smoke, and make it so that it can prevent slamming into the barrel causing compressed cartridge. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I got the hollow point 124gr a while back very happy with them. Also got the rn good as well but not as

I like bullets that don’t have exposed lead at the base. I have opted for the JHP’s for my open gun load. They stand up just fine to 1400 FPS.

I'd recommend you buy a small quantity of each, both are really good bullets. I prefer the MW but have the RN for a certain gun that doesn't feed flat points well. You also may find a difference in max working COL. My barrels will chamber the RN in a much longer COL than the MW.

It was quite clear what slams where, but if you're referring to setback, both these profiles are the same diameter and if you're getting excessive setback, it isn't due to the profile.

Yes, and highly undesirable. Setback is where the COL is reduced through some mechanical force. Good reloading practices will minimize the amount of setback. Good dies will resize correctly and give proper neck tension, but factors like case wall thickness, bullet diameter, crimping operations can all lead to some setback. I try to insure in 9mm setback is limited to a few thousandths.

I really like their 124gr JHP Multi Purpose Round for everything I need to shoot. The price is right and for me they are very accurate.
I agree.
I have also shot the Match Winners and they shoot very well for me.
I like the MPRs because they can do double duty in case of a Zombie attack.

I prefer the Matchwinner profile over RNs as they are easier to seat to the same OAL and seemed to be more accurate for me than the RNs.
The MPRs are a bit more money but shoot great for me and like I mentioned can do double duty.

RMR offers THR members a 5% discount with the code and yourTHR screen name, don't for get to use the discount Jake from RMR so kindly offers us all.

RMR has a great product and is great to do business with, good people good product=a win!

I have had no feeding issue with the MPRs or matchwinners in any my 9mms , 9mm 1911, XD, P226, Ruger PCC, Taurus PT99.
It is possible your gun may not like the Matchwinner profile but not likely.

One thing about the matchwinners you can get them in 125, 135 and 147 grain.
I prefer 125s and I load to them about 129 PF for match ammo.
Lots of people seem to prefer 147s for matches since a 147 that makes PF will have less muzzle energy that a 125 that makes PF and less ME = less recoil.
When I have time I am going to do another test of the 125 MPRs vs the 147 heavy matchwinners.
I have tried some other 147s in the past but preferred 125s. Maybe I need to try the 135s as a compromise.
Fairly sure Jake came out with the 135s for people who are loading to PF.

Please update us on what you decide and how they work out for you.

I’ve only tried the RMR 124gr match winners. And so far I am a fan. Especially using sport pistol. Got pretty good results with W231 as well.

As others stated you may have to play around with the OAL on them. OAL in my Glock 19 gen4 had to be shorter then RN bullets

Yes the Match winners need or shorter OAl and the MPRs do as well.
One thing to remember is it is not so much OAL as how much space the bullet is taking up in the case.
You could have 2 different bullets and to make up numbers seat them say .4" deep and end up with OALs that are quite a bit different depending on the bullet shape.

For my match loads I end up seating them deeper than they needs to be because my gun seems to prefer them a bit deeper.
I think I ended up with the 125 Match Winners at about 1.08/1.09.

MPRs at 1.08 but tested them down to 1.06. (not much "nose" on that bullet)

I agree.
I have also shot the Match Winners and they shoot very well for me.

I like 'em!
Shot some round nose RMR as well.
Can't find anything wrong with the RN's, but the MW's , from the first pull of the press handle until the hammer drops just seem to work better for me.

I have some of the 115's here at the house,,,

These are just mini-versions of our match winning bullets. Now you can get the whole family of matchwinners. We make this profile in 115, 124, 135, and 147 grains. Why? Because it just plain performs.

Haven't loaded a single round with 'em yet, but I'm hoping my Carbine might like 'em. (It certainly likes the 124's !)

.

I have decided on the 115gr plated. Do you guys have any recommendations on a powder? I'm trying to hit a 1225 fps average out of my 16in faxon barrel.
