OMG! WalMart to stop selling all handgun ammo!

Maybe they will have a really good sale on the ammo they are not going t o sell anymore.

The only place I've had worse customer service than Walmart is DICK'S. I'm starting to see a theme running through this...

Whole Foods no longer carries Gunher's Buckwheat honey, therefore, I no longer go shopping there. Walmart carries Gunter's Wildflower Honey for $3.89 per jar which is good price. The only thing I miss about WF is their bread. I now shop at Kroger.

Does WF in Ohio, have carry ban signs like they do in TX? They didn't until the Chipolte twins and OC came on the scene and then they added concealed and open carry signs here.

They originally had Ghost buster ban signs but when the 30.06s came out, they dropped ban signs. However, what I said above moved them to put out both sets of signs.

With Amazon on their heals, Walmart decides to alienate a large set of us customers. I’m guessing they feel either we are not a large enough base or will just cry wolf and get over it a time goes by...either way, Walmart feels it’s worth the risk.

Last time I even considered getting ammo at Wal-Mart was a 20 round box of 9mm HST. $36 not including sales tax, just sticker price.

Not an attack, just honest skepticism. I was serious about the business opportunity though. If there really are no decent places to get ammo in that big of an area and there are that many shooters, you probably could sell a fair bit. I don't know the exact procedure but every hardware store in this area sells ammo so I'm guessing it's not too terribly difficult.

The current Walmart price for 9x19 Federal HST Micro is just over $24 per 20.

Two reasons. One, back in my younger, dumber, open carry days, I was confronted by managers in two different Walmarts in different states and asked to cover my weapon. Two, I looked up the policy on the corporate website after that and it said that they didn't allow open carry. No idea if it's even possible to look up past policies like that, so I can't prove it.

I am well aware of how much HST SHOULD cost. Which is why I won't shop at Wal-Mart for ammo. LGS on the way to Wal-Mart sells 50 round HST for about $28.

I see open carry at Walmart all the time. My wife drags me in there so she can look at the clothes.

The discussion is so caught up on the stoppage of ammo sales this quote is being glossed over

I he doesn't want to alienate customers but is doing so for millions of AR, AK and so on owners.

I have spent around $800 this year there on common ammo like 9mm, .45 and .223 , I'll get it online no problem then. And sorry to local gun stores, I pay for your range, I buy your guns, but your ammo is always marked up twice as much as Walmart and online and such at some point common sense with my money overrules supporting the local gun store.

I've been looking since this afternoon for this "oh so more cheap" online ammo and haven't found it.

I would get 1k rounds of Federal brass for a little over $170 out the door from WM.

Anybody care to share a link for online brass cased that isn't more expensive?

I only rarely buy ammo at WM and haven't in at least a couple years. It doesn't seem like a great move business-wise if they sell that much but as everyone likes to remind me, corporations have the right to do whatever they want.

If you need 5.56/.223 or handgun ammo, you are going to need to find another source. If you protest and not spend any money at Walmart, maybe they will see the light.

Perhaps I misread the policy. It was quite a while ago. Or perhaps the managers in some stores don't enforce the policy.

Shipping costs alone kills the deals you see online unless you order in bulk, many people can't do that for whatever reasons. Academy sports here has decent prices but not every place has a place like that some towns only have a Walmart. If they truly do account for a fifth of all ammo sales in the country it's gonna be worse than people are making it out to be. I don't put much stock in conspiracy theories but if antis went after ammo vs the guns themselves they're on the right track.
