Rural King

We just got a Rural King a few months ago and I'm impressed, it's like if Harbor Freight and Tractor Supply had offspring. I've been a handful of times this season for kayak and camping gear, and they have fair prices on guns for a big box store.

Good to know they're supporting us in these weathering times, I'll be sure to support them more. Wal-Mart doesn't have anything I want to buy that Rural King doesn't.

That's good too know. We have a Rural King and a Big R in nearby cities. Both resemble each other. Hope they both continue as is.

That's good to see they have made it out your way. :)

Does yours offer the free bag of popcorn as you enter the store?

“ Does yours offer the free popcorn?”
Yes, the one in Radford, Va. does. But I’ll pass on the popcorn after watching the farmers with cow poop on their boots and the women with chicken feathers in their hair dig their paws through it.:barf:
To buy a gun there, you have to fill out the paperwork on a computer. Takes some people a long time to wade through it.
I shouldn’t complain, though. When my purchase was complete, the sales person handed me the box and didn’t bother to escort me to my car.:)

Not too many of those in Alabama. I did visit a Rural King, in NY of all places when I was visiting family a couple months ago. Really nice selection, even in the firearms department. I would like to see what they could offer without dealing with the hoops of NY firearms law and the (un)SAFE act.

If you have a Rural King within hailing distance I recommend checking them out.

They're not the be-all and end-all of farm supply stores, but there are some things I will go there first to look for. Over the couple of years that my local one has been open they have gradually come to pick up my ammunition business that Wal Mart lost years ago.

Definitely worth checking out.

There are two with about 15 miles of here. The problem is that the closer one is a "franchise" store whose ads (and prices) don't always agree with the "corporate" store. The corporate store is the one further away and is getting into a less than desirable neighborhood.

Rurall King is opening a new store in closed Gander Mountain location Memorial PKWY/Mastin Lake here in Huntsville

Where in NY? I didn't see any in NY on there store list. Closest was PA or OH.

Great way of putting it. Our Rural King and Harbor Freight stores are thirty minutes away but well worth the drive. If they are any closer, though, I'd have less jingle in my jeans. :uhoh:

I used to live in a town with a Rural King, honestly can't remember where, but there don't seem to be any where I am now. Pity, pretty cool store.

The highlight of visiting my sister-in-law in Fort Wayne, IN, is, besides seeing her, going to the local Rural King. No such luck in the home state of Oklahoma.

When I was looking for a 3 1/2" M1911, Rural King was recommended to me.

Unfortunately, the closest store to me doesn't carry firearms and the best I can tell is that the closest one that does is on the high side of a hundred miles away.

I've got an excellent locally owned big box chain 20-30 minutes away, so they'd have to have a hell of a deal on something I really wanted in order to make the trip.
