Hi all,

I'm in the market for a compact 45 for home defense and winter carry. The HK45c is a serious contender, but I've heard a lot about how hard it is to find accessories for it, specifically lights and holsters. This is kind of a deal breaker for me when there are other great (and cheaper) guns without these limitations.

I have done some digging, but a lot of posts and articles I see on this topic are from years ago, and a lot can change in a short amount of time.

If you have an HK45c, what are you running it with, and are you happy with your set up?

HK45C should have just about everything available for it. The HK45's have a regular rail. The HK USP line has different rail and that may be what you are thinking about.

What kind of holster are you looking for? When I think holster for a gun with a mounted light, I think duty holsters, and Safariland should have a holster. Here's some http://www.safariland.com/holster-search?dwfrm_holsterfinder_gunid=273403&dwfrm_holsterfinder_lightid=&dwfrm_holsterfinder_addonid=&dwfrm_holsterfinder_guntype=pistol&dwfrm_holsterfinder_manufacturer=Heckler+&+Koch&dwfrm_holsterfinder_model=HK+45+Compact&dwfrm_holsterfinder_barrellength=3.94&dwfrm_holsterfinder_caliber=.45+ACP&dwfrm_holsterfinder_haslight=&dwfrm_holsterfinder_lighttype=&dwfrm_holsterfinder_hasaddon=&dwfrm_holsterfinder_addontype=&prefn1=gunList&prefv1=273403&prefn2=lightListText&prefv2=none&prefn3=mountListText&prefv3=none

If you want a leather concealment holster, well, that's another matter, and will be pretty tough to find. If that's what you're looking for we can try.

If you're not planning on carrying with the light attached, just about everybody should make a holster for that gun.

I've read a lot from people saying that a lot pf lights are awkward fits on the 45c, something about how far up the trigger guard is. I'm not sure how true it is, going purely from what I've read on the net (mistake sometimes, I know, but I have no way of testing it).

I prefer Kydex. Thanks for the recommendation.

Check out Wright Leather Works. I have OWB from them, definitely NOT a t shirt carry gun but Definitely YES to fall/winter carry.

I don't run a light and don't plan to. I always always keep a good bright flashlight in my pocket.

No I use no pistol mounted lights, never will. Im sure they can make you a holster that fits a light. I ended up cutting the sweat guard off mine and I sent it back and they burnished the edge and dyed where I cut I just had to pay the shipping......talk about good service!

Spent 2 years looking for a light to fit my HK 45c before I gave up. Found some people over on HK forum mod a light to fit, but none of it looked like something I wanted to try.

I just carry a very very bright flashlight in my front pocket that I use for everyday activities, and can use if I need along with weapon.

To me, weapon mounted lights are best suited for people like SWAT where they can openly have handguns out and there is a known threat.
For civilians, I see no point, if that's your light source you could have your weapon out in situations where you are trying to identify if there even IS a threat and there's MANY problems with that.

Something to think about.

Come to think of it, I changed my point of view. As long as you carry a seperate EDC flashlight I think weapon mounted lights are OK
