if you were moving to a Free State, what would you get to celebrate?

Any idea is fair...I’m thinking something like a 7mm Rem... But I’m wide open...

Really I don’t NEED anything, but when has that stopped us???

Job isn’t secure yet, but would be in WA...

Greg

WA is not a free state. It is quickly following CA ...

That said, I would either go AR style in the theory that soon you won't be able to get them in WA or a bolt action on the theory they won't be banned as soon as the AR style.

If you go bolt I would get something you will use. 7mm doesn't seem likely to me in WA.

Personally I would look at something more like a M1 carbine or a sweet lever action.

SharpDog is right. Washington is not a free state anymore. But it is a big improvement over California. Except for Seattle. Go for something the communists banned in California. Going to save a lot of money getting out of that miserable state so go with the high end stuff.

I have an MP 15.

That said, I know very little about ARs...

Outside of a short barreled, select-fire, suppressed M4 with subsonic 300BLK...

What would be useful as more than a range toy???

Another vote for an M1 carbine. Maybe a Mini or an AK if you wanna be different. I have all or the above and all are fun range toys that tick off Leftists.

Carbine ammo is a little harder to come by and a tick more expensive than .223 or 7.62x39, but many pistol ranges will let you shoot it indoors when they prohibit the much louder ARs and such.

Oh, dont forget the SKS either. These escape some bans because they do not use detachable magazines (in factory trim), have no pistol grips and the bayonets can always be removed. Another cheap, fun, reliable gun with class.

For all the people fleeing your State for the one I have lived in my entire life, I wish it were a new attitude towards .gov control on every aspect of life.

Sadly, it seems like people ruin the place they came from and start the same process over again.

“Oh, I can’t believe how low the taxes are, so I’ll vote for every gov spending increase I can until I move on, again...

If your in that mindset, WA and CO seem like good pics, they are getting there quicker than TX.

Well, this...

a short barreled, select-fire, suppressed M4 with subsonic 300BLK...

The rest are more for fun. But this one is business.

Are you contemplating an AR, or just something not Cali?
Like a TSO?

I imagine any thing fun or nice is on "the list"?

Might want to re-think about Washington till after the next legislative cycle. The guys up the road from me (Legislature in Olympia) are trying their hardest to make this place more liberal than Cali. That said, if you really want to celebrate, I have a really nice house for cheap, and I will give you a free Mossberg shockwave to celebrate with. JK, a 7mm mag would be easy, but a suppressor and a SBR would be the way to go.

Get anything that suits your fancy. Leaving CA was so nice! I can buy about anything I can afford.

You’ve got new restrictions in place for AR owners in Washington. I have in-laws there including 3 BILs that all hunt and shoot regularly. 7mm, .300win, lots of choices for utility without taking a class, securing your AR at all times, etc. Not to say you can’t or shouldn’t, just saying.

Save a little money for a gas mask to shield you from all the smoke drifting down from those Canadian forest fires. I’d buy one of those soda can launchers to shoot LaCroix at wayward flames, nasty tasting stuff ought to have 1 good use!

No golden threadlock?
It seems to be a random response on THR if any gun topic refers to politics. It's odd that the words "Leftists" and "left coast" are allowed, but not the popular compound names for California (or MA, NJ) these days.

When it gets to be a bit too stifling here, go to AKfiles and say almost anything you want-about gun politics. As if THR's readers aren't already well-versed in terms of what's on Every tv news network-----

ExAgoradzo: my "liberation" from the PDRC would be celebrated by any type of sport utility rifle, and either a "tanker" or normal capacity magazine.

Seeing this happening as I live and breathe in my own state. Sadly, progressivism is a virus, seeking new hosts after it bleeds the life out the old.

AZ is closer, and a hellava lot more friendly to gun owners.

Go Northern for Wx, go Southern for cheap living.

Go anywhere in the state to buy what you can afford, run yer 4473, walk out the door.

Lots of places to shoot, either ranges or desert/woods.

Conelrad out.

If I were moving to a "Free State" I would most likely get something I was not allowed to have in my former state. If I didn't already have an AR or AK I would get one of those, seeing this is the Rifle forum. Like the suggestion of an M1 Carbine (always fancied the M1A1 version), or else an M1A or an FAL.

As stated by others, WA doesn't seem like a spectacular move. With that said, go big or go home! I'd do something in a SBR and FULLY auto. THAT'S a celebration right there.
