Why are sights bad? If I didn't want sights theres smaller guns equally inaccurate. When you said no front site I was curious what you meant and the picture makes it all clear... I supposes it won't snag though.
 
So, the real question now becomes can Sig release more guns than I can buy ... :what:

Just teasing, a couple more guns and I cannot afford beer :(

I hear ya. My favorite is the Nano and just bought two more, and got a heck of a deal because of the New Model out. But still bleeding from that sale and three other purchases in the past two months alone. Still want a second Kahr.

I am glad this new model Sig is not out yet. Hopefully the XL version even longer.Came close to buying a police trade in the other day. Smith 3913. Lgs had some just come in.

As far as the Porting, I would at least like to shoot the gun. Sig obviously has a reason to add this feature. They say recoil reduction. I am not familiar with porting to know if it helps. The Sig when I shot it was a little snappy, maybe the porting does help that to a degree. At least it will be interesting to test out the gun. The sights might be a big hit, maybe not. But you never know until you actually shoot a gun. I would imagine there are a lot of people out there interested in the 365 that have not purchased one. I wonder which one they will choose when they decide to ante up? I have a feeling most LGS with gun ranges will add the new model for folks to compare and I am sure the Reviews will start hitting the Youtube very quickly. If nothing else it will be a interesting shoot out between the two.
I personally like the slim snag free design on small guns, but that is subjective.
When I tested the Sig, I found it to be a wonderful little Pistol, even though it did not fit my individual hand, so I passed. But I predicted it would be a Top seller. I am predicting the same with this one. We will see. I will give Sig points for one thing, they seem to be thinking out of the box.

With inappropriate ammo, sure. It’s at least going to direct more noise back at the shooter.

Portion can help reduce muzzle flip, but it won’t really reduce recoil.
 
The sights look interesting but I don't like the ported barrel. It's like a muzzle brake on a hunting rifle - I'd rather have more recoil/flip than the additional blast.

All the reading I've ever done on that subject on THR, including velocity data, indicates that the velocity loss is very minimal, and that makes sense when you consider the porting is toward the end of the barrel. The bullet has already been accelerated to close to it's potential velocity from that barrel and the redirected gasses are going to have a fairly minimal impact on velocity. I mean the bullet has already exited the barrel before the gun unlocks, and cycles. So at that speed, the bullets already exiting the muzzle as the redirected gas is hitting the ports.

All the velocity data I've ever seen usually seems to be in the neighborhood of a 25 fps loss, though different barrel lengths may change that. I'm sure there are some measures and ultra slow motion cameras that could shed more light on the subject, but velocity loss is minimal and certainly not going to render a good self defense round ineffective.

For a subcompact whose intended use is arguably meant for an "up close" defensive role, I question the porting since it may constitute a source of injury to the user.
 
We tested both a ported and non-ported Shield in a totally black range. We could not really tell the difference in muzzle flash as everything happens so quickly. In slow motion the ported gun does differ in muzzle blast. We all felt a significant difference in felt recoil shooting the ported gun. I think the SAS version may have some merit and I will be anxious to get some live fire testing before I rule it out.
 
Note to everyone who purchases this gun:

If I, Beeenbag, am EVER in a hostage situation and the bad guy has a gun to my head but is presenting himself as a good target... DO NOT TAKE THE SHOT with this gun. I'll take my chances, thanks and god bless. :rofl::D

I wonder what guns we might see these sights on next. It's definitely different and completely applicable to a CCW type gun.
 
Just got an email about this new model. Interesting to say the least! Like the slide embedded Bullseye sight set-up but could do without the porting.

Seems like SIG is on to something with their new "Flavor of the Month" guns!
 
Seems like they are trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. Never had a gun snag when drawing from a holster. Shot about 500 rounds thru my regular 365 & never noticed the recoil. I will say the sights are intriguing tho

Was it reduced recoil or reduced muzzle flip?
 
I can see the benefit for pocket carry, but didn’t colt do this years ago with the new agent with not much success? Call me a traditionalist, but I like sights on top of my guns and through thousands of draws haven’t had sights cause a snag yet. I also hear sights like these don’t hit poa poi. I’m one who doesn’t believe in ported ccw guns as well for the obvious reasons (potential flash blinding and debris shot into the eyes when shooting from retention). This is for someone, just not me. I love the variety that sig offers though
 
These are actual sights unlike the trench sights on the New Agent. I agree the porting and the application of the new sights on this particular gun leave something to be desired. The exciting thing IMO is the possibility of having sights like these on larger pistols which might negate the need for larger dot sights mounted on the top of carry guns. These are more protected and far less likely to hang up than traditional red dots.
 
One of the reasons I prefer my P365 over my Glock 43 is the Sights. So I doubt I will search out one of these to go so far as look at.
