We have a red flag gun seizure of a Joker fan from Washington who made some regrettable comments online. It's interesting to see his well documented social media to get a good idea of the litmus that will be applied in my state.

I'm torn on this, on the one hand this guy seems like a piece of work. On the other hand, if he's committed a crime then charge him and take the guns. This special legal status with a reduced burden of proof seems like a cudgel for undesirables more than anything.

Agree, with one change. Charge and convict him of a crime and take the guns.

Be quick about it if you like. But stick to the proper process.

When will people learn that you just shouldn’t make stupid comments that imply or insinuate violence online? Actions have consequences. Then again, maybe it’s better that they don’t learn this. But they shouldn’t be surprised when there’s a knock on their door.

Had a meth head do that in my town a few years ago. Started waving knives around. My coworker arrested him.

If you act crazy, expect to be treated like you’re crazy. But these red flag laws are sketchy at best.

No wonder he can't get women to like him, he is an idiot.

I've heard of "incels" -- LAW AND ORDER SVU even had an episode dealing with this .... "movement" (if it can be called that) and for the life of me I just cannot fathom the mentality of guys that would identify with "involuntary celibacy" as a group that believes that they are somehow entitled to something as these people seem to. A lot of guys are clumsy with the opposite sex, until they find the right mate. I guess all guys are as teens .... most grow up. They say girls mature faster, and maybe that's a good thing since someone has to be the grown-up.

On a more serious note, while this guy is disturbing, and appears to have a history of problems, I am disturbed by this Leo action. While this person may have indeed stepped over a line .... I wonder just where that line is, how porous it is, and how easily it might get redrawn elsewhere "in the sand" in the future.
We are in for some .... ominous times ahead, I think.

The problem with the whole "Red flag" concept is "We are taking this guys guns, because he is dangerous". The important part of that statement, as I see it, is "He" not guns. He is still free and now even more angry because you took his property. If he is really intent on doing something bad I'm betting he can find a way to get more guns.

----or find a way of creating havoc without using guns ....

Step away from the screen, stop the stupid comments, and spend some time trying to meet someone. Threats of violence? Try a little tenderness.

But first get a job and move out of Mom's basement. Chances increase dramatically.

"The man has not been named because he was not arrested or charged with a crime."

I'm not torn or confused on this at all. Give him his weapons back.

THIS^^.

I guess turnabout is fair play? ''One man used his firearm in a (self defense, target shooting, collecting, heritage heirloom) legal, safe lawful manner''
THERFORE.....

EVERYONE should be ''subject'' to allowance, shucks, kinda like the Constitution RIGHT, of using their firearms as they so see fit.

One nut= all guns bad argument begs the counter argument...
One hero = all guns good argument.

The bar is that low, no one even has to step across it, just a casual stroll will work.

Aaaand....

Don't foget to call / write your electeds, federal level, state level, county, city, dog catcher.

This:
The man had a concealed permit license for two handguns that was issued in May, but the license has since been revoked.

Washington state does NOT issue concealed pistol licenses (CPLs) for individual handguns. You get a CPL, you can carry any handgun from your personal "arsenal." More crappy reporting (was in the local news stories as well).

As an aside, were it not for his sketchy history, the pic as captioned would actually be funny (in a most politically-incorrect sort of way).

I'm so confused by the terminology today. So, is "incel" another word for being married???
No, apparently it's a self imposed label that angry men use when they are in the "Can't Get Laid Club". The CGLC. Gee, I wonder why. I've had some long stretches, but I never felt the urge to label myself or brandish weapons as a result.

Still not sure how I feel about this. Red Flag laws seem an open door to me to mistreat people and violate their rights. But his post seems to be a threat in many ways, and if he isn't bright enough to know that posting crap like that is bound to get you a talkin to at least, then he hits me as exactly the type suffering from mental illness that we the progun movement claim needs psychological help.

Those incel guys are a semi-organized, self-reinforcing cult of victimhood with delusions of grandeur. If they're not insane when they get into it, they quickly become so.

Anyone who compulsively fantasizes about just punching random women so hard they fall down probably needs to be involuntarily committed for mental health treatment. I have zero sympathy for this [fill in worst word THR permits here].

Agree. They are another brand of hate group, just as gross as any other racist, sexist, or other bigoted type of group.

Plenty of room for discussion about the flaws , pitfalls , and potential for abuse of “Red Flag Laws” , but ...
WHAT A LOSER that guy is!
Anyone who posts images of himself brandishing firearms on social media is pasting a trouble target on his forehead.

I'm shocked that incel is a legitimate term throughout the nation now. It's really amazing that a dumb meme like that has gained so much power.

I wonder if incels will be branded as one of those disorganized terrorist gangs, like insane clown posse, where "membership" makes you defacto ineligible. Im a single guy and I'd be scared to be labeled an incel that's for sure...

My problem with Red Flag Laws is the same police who will avoid violent gangs with guns, a history of violence, and the absolute certainty they will perform violent acts with guns again, in the future; seem to have no problem kicking down the door of a lawful gun owner who has done nothing wrong, stealing their property, and violating their rights, all on the basis of a phone call of a whiny neighbor, or someone who dislikes them.
Now, as gun owners, we have to not only have a pristine record, jump thru all the hoops of gun ownership, but now we also have to be the local Prom Kings, and be loved by all, all the time. Any certainty any of us had, that we will retain our firearms, has been permanently eliminated. Red Flag Laws not only effectively erase our 4th Amendment rights, but the privacy rights of anybody else who is merely accused of having a gun.

But this guy on social media, posing threats, weren't there laws on the books to handle irresponsible behavior, before Red Flag Laws? Why not just enforce those laws, using due process?
