Grail Guns

Nothing really currently on the horizon grail-gun wise.
My itches nowadays are pretty easy to scratch...
...not that they were ever that hard to begin with...

I think about a .45-70 sometimes. Preferably in a lever action.
But that's not exactly a grail gun - just a gun I would like to have.

After a number of years I finally bagged a .357 levergun.
I think that is as close to a grail gun as I got.
As stated - it's not that it was a life-altering event.
But it still felt good to get that one!

Most other guns that might qualify were actually just highly desired guns at the time.
And there always seems to be another one down the road.

At the end of the day my "grail gun" sees almost no use, and a lot of what I have the most fun with actually tends to be random/impulse purchase in nature.

Marlin 1895 STP

I like that kodiak express jeffg showed.
Would love a stainless ruger #1 in 45-70, a converted siamese mauser also in 45-70 and i dont know why no one has mentioned the barrett 82.
None of these are "grail" guns but the marlin stp is up there. My only grail gun is a marlin 1897 bicycle rifle - i've kind of got a similar rifle , a model 97 made in 1906 i rescued from a pile of rusty bb guns in this old boys garage. Its rough but not pitted, been at my gunsmiths for years. I dont think its a priority to him to finish, if he didnt do incredible work i would have pulled it already. Just hoping someday soon he calls me up to say its ready to go...

I have most of mine. Browning Superposed Lightning. Colt New Frontier. S&W 625. 1953 Win model 70. AYA sxs .410 custom ordered in 1966 from Harden and Knight with all the bells and whistles.
What do I want? Superposed Lightning Skeet.

It would be hard to pass a S&W model 17 or 14 with an 8 3/8” barrel in pristine condition at a fair price.

Gun show in town this weekend, hope springs eternal! :)
It seems like when I’m looking for something I never find it, but when I stumble in to a LGS or pawn shop I see something I can’t pass up. o_O

Good luck this weekend!

Stay safe.

I was lucky enough to get a Siamese in 45/70, my dad had a few to. I'd like to get one more for a flatter cartridge to pare with the 45/70. I'd like a #1 as well maybe in 7 mauser.

GLOCK 18C.
RUGER OLD ARMY
COLT PYTHON

Honorable mention, Colt Nickel Det Spec.

Not like the ruger is especially grail worthy, or out of reach, just an awesome piece of iron that I havent got in my hands just yet.

The python would set me back a lil more than I'll probably ever be comfortable with, I would love to own one though.

The glock 18, I know. Totally impractical, but I love the thing and would love to own one.

I didnt post a rifle picture because everybody knows what an M4 looks like. Yep, just an M4 as my grail rifle. Not really creative but that's it for me. Everything I really need I have, these are just a few "wants". I could think of a couple lever guns that could make the list, but I dont want to hog bw....

I only have two ...

Pistol: 9x19 P08
Rifle: G/K43

... and given a choice between them I would not hesitate (at all) to take the G/K43. :)

I have a lingering hope of one day (while I am still interested) running into someone with an extra, decent-condition G/K43 who has never been able to find the one or two nice SVT40s (I still have 6, 5 with good bores but one of those 5 I Built from parts, so ...) on which he has his heart set. Not holding my breath, though. ;)

EDIT: Back in ~1975 while thinking hard about buying a NIB .45acp Ingram SMG ($175+$200TaxStamp) & matching Suppressor (also $175+$200TaxStamp) I decided to not go the SelectFire Route in my life, not because of the extra hassle(s) and registration involved but because of the expense the feed the bloody things.

Ooh this is a fun one

How about
Freedom Arms Premier grade in 454 Casull
Walther SSP
A classic double from Rigby or Purdey in some shoulder blasting Teddy Roosevelt cartridge
Accuracy International AW

For years it was a Mannlicher stocked Mauser carbine with receiver sights. Nothing fancy but I wanted it to be like the rifle that a neighbor loaned me for my first ever deer hunt. Haven't found one yet and it's getting kind of late now...
I did find, a few years ago, a Winchester 94 carbine in 32 Special that was like the one a cousin had loaned me for deer hunting one year.It was sort of a "grail gun" for me due to the memory of that cousin who was much older than I and had long since passed. I still haven't gotten a deer with it though.. :(

I've already got about fifteen hundred rounds through my Grail pistol.:)

But the more I look at it, one of those Blue X-Six Sigs would make a great companion to her...

...uh-oh.;)

No time to hunt photos, plus some have already been posted- but I can make a quick list:
- blued S&W model 10- US gov't property marked
- US mil 1897 trench gun
- US mil Johnson 1941
- US mil Model 12 trench
- US mil Remington model 11- riot
The rest of my US mil collection is pretty complete.

Has anyone said "Bronze Cannon" yet?

I feel like I need a cannon. You know, just a little one. For parties and holidays and such.

I could mount it on my bass boat, swivel gun style.

Who doesn't need a bow gun when fishing?
:)
about 10 years ago I was given a 2' peace of seamless tube it's over 5/8 thick. So I made a free standing morter. Just happens a pool hall fits perfect, with a old t-shirt patch. Brake it out for the 4th and new year. Fired it over a 3/4 mile long lake one time, never seem the ball hit water.

Wanted to bring it up to Oneonta lake and fire it out there when we had a tournament weekend but the thing sinks 4 or 5 inches into the ground when fired. We figured it would crack the hull of something.
don't shoot it much no balls are hard to find these days.

You can mount your Cannon on your trolling motor them you would have a century gun lol.
