Hi guys. Need some advice. It appears that the tikka t3x has dovetail mounts on their rifles (I am about to purchase the rifle). Would you recommend using them or install a weaver? Thanks Pete
it's very likely it will, they used to........Thank you for the info guys.
@LoonWulf , thank you for the offer. Do not have the rifle yet so it is possible that they come with the same ones you have. I am just waiting to have Sportsman's Warehouse get my local FFL on their list. I have tell you guys, that company cannot seem to get out of its own way. Almost a week ago they pulled up the info on my FFL. All they needed to do is verify their license, which was going to take a day; 72 hours worst case. Called today and they tell me that they are short handed in that department and will do their best. Then asked if they could help me with anything else. I told them yes, please take my money and send me the gun Nothing like having to beg someone to sell you something. Uggh.
Personally
I use a picatinny rail that incorporates a recoil lug designed to fit perfectly into a hole in the top of the receiver coupled with Warne rings.

I have owned 4 Tikka rifles now and have never had any issue with their factory scope mounts. They have stop pin holes in them and I use those to insert a screw (with the head filed down to fit into the hole) into the receiver, just as added insurance that the rings won't move. It's simple to do, and I've never had any issues whatsoever. In fact, I had purchased Talley rings for my last Tikka and ended up taking them off and going back to the factory rings. I just don't see why people don't give the factory rings a chance before they assume they are inferior, esp. when nothing else on the rifle is inferior at all.Hi guys. Need some advice. What exactly went wrong with the factory rings?I never had any luck with the Tikka rings, I can’t speak for anyone else but these are steady for me.View attachment 867109
I've never owned a Tikka, but I've worked on and mounted scopes one more than a few. I prefer the basic set up of DNZs and like the way the Warnes LOOK the best, but I've never seen an issue with the factory rings either. The rings that come with the rifle are nice and its a very robust mounting system. Less screws and fasteners to mess with. I wouldn't even think of replacing them unless you have some reason such as a scope that won't fit or if the rise of the stock is completely wrong for you.
Well it’s been awhile but It seemed that I couldn’t keep them snug enough at the base to not move. Typical stuff ya hear. What exactly went wrong with the factory rings?
