I’m stocked up too but I hope someone in need can put eyes on one and save some coin. Getting a scoped combo centerfire under $200 in this day and age was something I’d never have believed possible. I’m also a little giddy at the prospect of other manufacturers following suit this holiday season.

I'm new to centerfire rifles, and bought a wood stock axis .243 at wallyworld for 347 clams.
Beautiful rifle and shoots great.
May have to get one of these in 270.

The difference in price between the scoped ones and plain ones is $30, I wonder how good the scope is?
I've been thinking about a bolt action in 223 for my grandson and was going to check them out during the black friday sales, do you think anything will be cheaper that is still a decent rifle?

The scopes are usually junk in the combos.
I would just get the rifle and put a better scope on it.

I got one off GunBroker for $215.

I'll look closely at some LGS, they are usually competitive to online stores sometimes lower when you include shipping but taxes equal it out.

I own a Compass as well as two T/C Muzzleloaders and several others in the distant past. The Compass is a solid rifle in its own right but the Axis is a well tested platform and a solid no-frills rifle. I purchased my Compass for $170 after rebate 2 years ago and had it been the Axis on sale that day instead I would have been a Savage owner.

I think the point is that for items that rarely break, "Lifetime Warranty" is essentially marketing buzz.

Its nice to have if you need it. It would take me longer than a year to fire 100 rounds of 30-06, by then the warranty would have expired. That being said Gallery of guns offeres a lifetime replacement warranty.

Hard to make the argument that in and of itself makes the TC better than anyof the others I listed.

Yep.

In fact Ruger, with their no written or implied warranty frees themselves up to work on firearms far beyond the extent of “lifetime” which is dependent on the State you live in. Could be 20 years, could be actual lifetime of original owner. These major players would not still be in business without some fair degree of quality.

Most of those are Weaver 3X9 or possibly Bushnell 3X9 (same holding company these days). Either, on "clearance" at a local Bushnell outlet, runs around $30-40, so their $30 raise is about the value of the scope to the manufacturer. If you bought them separate, those are maybe $80 scopes.

I found a Howa Mini .223 on sale at Cabelas when they closed those out. I think it was about $250 out the door. It sets in my safe now unused as it's basically a hunter and I don't hunt anymore. Nice little rife, just not as accurate as my 1500 HB. Might get around to doing something with it one of these days.

I don't care much for their rifles, but damn, their service has to be the best in the industry.

Mine came with the weaver scope. Not bad,but definitely better out there.
For 30 bux though, its a 100 dollar scope and cane be tossed on a 22 or crossbow
