What is the most recent knife you bought?

Curious how you like that folding karambit.

I’ve read mixed reviews.
It really is mostly an ingenious mechanism.

I bought it because of the unique mechanism, which is really cool, but it's mostly a fidget toy. It would be highly practical for those few people who train with and carry karambits who do not carry fixed blade ones, but, you know... that's a really small number of people. It is extremely well made and a lot of fun to play with, but honestly, I don't find karambits to be practical knives, and I'm not training in Filipino martial arts, so other than as a fun fidget toy and a collector item, I have no use for it. It doesn't even really have a place in my collection, it's just an extremely high-quality novelty. I paid the Kickstarter price of $450 back in April 2018 for three of them, and I sold two at retail or close to it, so the one I have left, assuming I don't sell it, ended up costing me about the same as the CRKT version if you account for the profit I made selling my extras less my shipping costs and Paypal fees. That was a pretty good deal.

But of course I buy more knives than money I make selling them...

Hi Hso,
It's the M9 USMC prototype, from 1993, made by BUCK, with some problems during the field test, that you can read here : http://www.m9m4.com/index.cfm?currentpage=21
According the book, it's the version 2.
According some others old M9 BAYOS specialists, it's wrong....

Hard to tell. But, this model is extremely rare, version 2 or not.

I picked up a spare SAK (insurance against loss of my regular carry) and the little Condor Compact Kephart at SMKW on Wednesday. I missed Rep weekend, but made the Smoky's visit on Wednesday. It was a pretty miserable day to be in the park with the near constant rain. I was over on the Townsend entrance area and it really is quite a drive to get to their store from there. I have a German switch blade that I bought back in the late 80's at a gun show. It is very similar to the one my Dad had and I always wanted one with the flipper in post #77 at the time.

A few posts up I mentioned losing a knife out back. Well, don't need to replace it after all cause I found it, the knife, out back by the barn.
Why is it that ya always find the cheap knives that we lose and never the expensive ones..? o_O

I got this one yesterday for my birthday. My daughter loves me.:)

I bet she does. I bought my son a Myerchen knife when he was attending NY Maritime College. Nice knife that had locks on both the regular blade and the marlin spike.

While on his first summer cruise it decided to take a walk from his locker while he was in the shower. I replaced it for him with a Spyderco Atlantic Salt with their special nitrogen based rust resistant steel. I love him, too. lol

When my daughter asked what I wanted for my birthday, I told her a pocket knife with a Marlin Spike. She gave me a funny look. I told her I needed it for making dog leashes. She decided to get me a good one because she knows that I’ll be using it.

Benchmade 908 axis Stryker in carbon fiber and m4 steel. Came a little rough but after a fluff and buff it's pretty nice. Riddled with minor design flaws, but overall quite capable and fidgity. https://www.knivesshipfree.com/benc...i-carbon-fiber-black-blade-drop-point-cpm-m4/

I have the "low end"(?) version - 154CM and G10 - first thumb stud opener I liked - not for lack of trying mind you, there are more than a few ahead of it. This knife is the perfect (in my pea sized mind) EDC blade only tool.

I do so want that M4 version though! I don't care for CF much, but I'd take it. The thought had crossed my mind to get the 908BK-1501 Axis Stryker II, pull the blade and remove the coating (that's just me) and reassemble using the G10 scales from mine, use it as my EDC and sell off the 154CM with CF scales. Good plan, procrastination....

And then there is my little Foray - just a bit small for my finger manipulations - or lack thereof - but works great just using the axis lock and a little wrist to open.

The next to last knife I bought though is a Proper knife!

Picked up an Ontario Rat II based on the pretty consistent rave reviews and D2 steel

Was razor sharp out of the box, and perfect size for most tasks I need a pocket knife for:

(Unfortunately) my next, next to last knife is an Ontario Rat 1, same-ish as @Tater&Egg but bigger for my meathooks. Man I hate crawling through interesting posts!

Did I open the shipping box of the last knife I bought with the next to last knife I bought? Yes I did! Thanks @Tater&Egg for "egging" me on! o_O:confused:

OOTB smooth, effortless flip open, solid lock, liner lock better than "just inside" the meat of the locking land, blade centered nicely, no pivot play, up/down or side to side. Initially I am impressed, and this being my first D2, I am looking forward to seeing how well it holds up as a daily carry. Feels as substantial in the hand as my BM Stryker, and more so than the Grip. Does anyone have any experiences, good/bad/indifferent with the OKC D2 or Taiwanese build?

You're welcome! ;)

I've been using mine OKC pretty much daily since I got it a few weeks ago, nothing but positive things to say about it so far- we'll see how it continues to hold up. One thing I also noted was just how sharp this thing is out of the box, no need to sharpen it and with the D2 it should hold a better edge (from what I hear)

I noticed that also, and I am hoping to find out the longevity of that edge is all that is said about it!

The last knife I bought was a Cold Steel Trailmaster Bowie in carbon steel. That was several years ago when they were still being made in the USA. After that I started making knives out of farrier rasps. I don't have time to make too many knives but the two I made came out pretty good & it's a lot more fun to pull out a knife you made yourself than one you bought.

I have that same exact knife you have in your photo (the KaBar two blade pocketknife)! Got it back in the late '70s and used it mostly for whittling. Still have it somewhere though not in as nice of shape as your knife.

A Kershaw Misdirect assisted.

(oddly I just posted this same answer in another thread "what's on you right now?" or something like that..lol)
