Springfield Armory takes aim at Sig's 365

Yeah, I was also confused by his logic... They are going for $495, which is less than the P365. They have higher capacity, and so far, no random and catastrophic failures like the P365 CONTINUES to suffer from.

But, yeah, I think the P365 looks better, so there's that...

I like my Springfield emp and 1911s and xd, so I'm no disliker of springer, but its early still....no guarantee the springer hellcat wont have issues. let's hope not, but I'm not gonna bet it wont.....

The 365 is easily found at under 5 bills. I got my second one for $488 out the door (Proven Outfitters).

I just remain amused by all those so ready to jump aboard the wholly un-proven Hellcat bandwagon after all of the SIG-bashing when the 365's initial release suffered issues.

I understand your amusement, but I think it's because SA has a much better track record of introducing new firearms without hidden issues than Sig does that people are more comfortable in being beta testers.

The example in this video went 2,000 rounds without a hiccup although the floorplate on the 11 round magazine didn't want to stay put. Will be interesting how the gun performs as more people start to actually put some rounds through them.

I was an early adopter of the Springield XDs .45 ACP. I bought two of them before Springfield announced the recall. They put out on social media that they would pay shipping both ways and fix the guns, and asked people to start sending them in. They did not state that they had no idea what the fix was going to be. Basically, they suckered people into sending tens of thousands of guns to them to limit Springfield's liability. I decided to send one in. After Springfield let the cat out of the bag and advised that it was still testing fixes, I was tempted to write and ask them to ship my gun back and let me know when they had a fix, just to see if they would continue to hold my property against my will. Ultimately, I got my gun back fixed. After all of the backlog got cleared, I sent in the second gun and got it back relatively quickly.

Anyway, I consider what Springfield did to be a sleazy business practice. I have had issues with Sigs. In each instance, Sig has paid shipping both ways and the guns have been returned very quickly. In one instance, they replaced a gun.

ETA: Sorry, I didn't realize that I already dropped a sentence about this in an earlier post.

Did anyone else get uptight seeing the various people in the Springfield Hellcat video holster their guns with the holster already tucked into the waist band? Man! I started seeing all kinds of parts missing on those people. Negligent discharge coming right up! No thank you!

I like the HC, but I’d like it better with a grip safety myself. I still may get one next year after the initial bugs have been revealed.

Under $550 MSRP isn’t sane? Am I understanding you?

Not for what it is, no, it's not. It's about $100 too high for a polymer gun of it's type, made in Croatia (It is, isn't it?) The same(Overprice) goes for the 365, but I would take one over the Hellcat, as I figure Sig will eventually get it right, and it just does look a lot better. I liked the 365 I shot, but I don't really love any polymer gun that goes for much over $300-350, even though I own several of them, including a custom CZ P07 with upgraded sights and action job, etc. I only have a couple of guns the size of the 365 or Hellcat, and they are old fashioned all metal ones old enough to vote.

Fair enough.

Get the right holster, keep your finger indexed outside the trigger guard and pull your shirt out (I.e. up and clear of the holster) of the way and it’s not a concern.

When one has shirts tucked in behind a holster, and a cheap holster that doesn’t hold its shape and poor gun handling skills that’s when problems occur.

My XDs 45 was part of that recall. I got mine back pretty quick. I think I remember what you are referring to though. I was happy the whole thing was free and they took care of it.

I don't have any issue with Sig either, but My P365 has worked just fine with no issues. I am around 900 rounds through it. Most reviewers I see lately say Sig has improved the pistol to eliminate the failures. They were just upset that Sig wasn't more open about the changes and upgrades they were doing. For me, I would rather pick up the P365XL model than go for the Hellcat.

Isn’t that how the guy shot himself with his glock 43?

People shoot themselves all the time, the common denominator in all situations is people.

Agreed. That’s why I try to remove myself as the possible fault position as much as I can while keeping safety and quick shootability in mind.

I will holster my glock 26 into an IWB position, but only because it has a striker control device.

I prefer double action revolvers frequently because I can ride the hammer as I carefully holster the gun.

I bought a 365 about 10 months ago, replaced my Kahr PM9 after 8-9 years of pocket and appendix carry. I don't see any reason to get yet another small 9mm for 1 extra round. I carry with the 12 rounder and have 2x as many rounds as before. Sold my XDS "had the first batch", it was very reliable but too blocky to pocket carry. I replaced that with a Shield PC45, and have as many rounds as a 1911 in a smaller thinner lighter package. Aside from those I still have a 15 yr old Glock 26, with a +2 on it which makes it even with the 365, and I can slap a 15-33 round mag in if I chose to be really that ammo conscious. I don't have an RMR on my carry gun, just night sights on all of them. Last thing I need is another small gun. I may opt for an RMR if I see something that catches my eye. I don't think at 71, the dot is going to change the way I shoot. Honestly if it ain't broke..
