Ace Hardware in GA

North GA also has a store where you can find your wife a purse and clothing, get a good price on a good flannel shirt and very competitive gun and ammo prices. A little bonus while going to N GA for the fall colors, be careful they are closed on Sunday.

We've been to Alexander's; great store. It used to be better at year's end; however last year, the checkout lines were too long for the wife.

Same as other areas in the South; all I can say is the South is different and in a good way.

When I lived out West there was a regional chain called Long's Drugs. You could walk in the front door and take a left and buy a gun, go around the corner to get reloading supplies, then back to the back corner for a bottle of your favorite whiskey and then to the pharmacy for your mood meds - all in one stop.

I remember when the Longs Drugs in Atascadero, CA sold guns. They gave me a catalog which I still have. It even has AR-15s and Uzis in it.
This was about 1984. Those were the days...

I also remember Western Auto selling guns in the mid 1970s, and buying ammo at Coast To Coast Hardware.

The local Ace had lots of guns and very little hardware. They became a full-time gun shop, and another hardware store got the Ace label.

You're showing your age.. :D
I remember when the local auto parts store sold 1903-A3 for $30 and had them displayed in a galvanized garage can.. Ah, those were the days.. We bought ours at Letterkenny Arsenal for under $20.. Then, there was "Ye Olde Hunter" who sold Lugers for $49.95.
I guess I just showed my age too.

As the song said
"Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end"
And damn if they didn't.

bought my first paid money for it myself centerfire from a barrel at WoolCo

In High school all three hardware stores in town (p. 7,500) sold guns as did Western Auto and one of the bait stores also my senior year we got a T,G,& Y with a guns and ammo counter.

Rural King has a great selection of guns and ammo here, bought my last gun at the local Rural King

The RK stores in this area just started selling guns within the last 2-3 years. Now, with Ill-ANNOY's new, state mandated licensing that duplicates BATF's paperwork, they may choose to get back out of the business.

Noticed ammunition for sale at an Ace Hardware yesterday.

I have purchased guns from both Western Auto and TG&Y. Growing up, the hardware store is where I looked at guns. Bought my first handgun at a hardware store in Texas. There was also a chain called Millers that sold guns.

Thought y'all would enjoy that there are still hardware stores selling guns.

You're correct.... I DID enjoy seeing that pic. In my home town in the day your best options for firearms, knives, hell; all things "GUY" was the hardware store (I believe it was *Coast To Coast*), the barber shop with a back-room to make you crazy and the feed-store.
In fact, in my youth I knew of 3 barber shops that ran a wonderful gunsmith/retail shop in the back.

As far as the OP's pics, I don't know whether it is sad or funny that some of the arms are displayed in the manner necessary now for spray-paints in the very same store.;)

I remember long's drugs in colo springs.

The Ace Hardware by me not only has guns, but no less than 5 drawers full of blued steel gun screws. Every size, length, thread, and head type you could imagine. They also have tweezers in every drawer, and a plate that is drilled, tapped, and stamped with the thread size, so you can check to make sure you have the right one. It's nice for when you are mounting optics, or else lose or damage a screw doing a home gunsmith job.

I've never seen such a large selection anywhere. It sure beats buying one of those expensive sets from Brownell's, that you will never end up using 95% of them. I don't know if every Ace has these, as it might be region specific. Here in Lake Havasu City one thing we have plenty of are Trump supporters and gun shops. So as always, YMMV.

The last LGS in my county in WA state (other than WalMart) was an ACE Hardware about two years ago. They announced they were no longer selling guns or offering FFL services, then about a year later, they were going out of business entirely.

So now, in a town of 35k, on the border of Idaho, the only place to buy guns or ammunition in WA, is WalMart. Then they announced their new "woke" policies regarding ARs and pistol ammo, and I've shunned them ever since.
