Anyone want to guess which gun this is?

So, long story short, I'm writing a novel in which the main character is based on a Forest Service LEO. I have a friend of mine that is a Forest Service LEO. While out moose scouting a couple of years ago, we met up with him and I snapped a photo of him in uniform.

I was using the photo to describe my character and I made his sidearm a Glock 20. I'm pretty sure his sidearm is NOT a Glock 20, but I did it because it's my damn book and it's one of the few literary licenses I choose to take.

If 6'4 Jack Reacher can morph into Tom Cruise in the Lee Child series, then my guy is going to carry a Glock 10mm, lol.

But I was looking at the photo and I have no idea what sidearm he has.

Yes, I can call him and ask, but the image I have doesn't look like anything I instantly recognize.

Anyone want to take a look and see if they can figure it out? I'll be calling him later in the week for the actual answer, but for now, I'm stumped...

Obviously, he has a taser on his left side. But the pistol has a weird grip shape.

Glock with grip sleeve?

That’s a photographical illusion - kind of like a double exposure. If you zoom and look closely, you’ll see two perimeters to the pistol. Either the dude or the photographer were moving slightly during the capture and the digital stabilization didn’t reconcile what would have been a blurry image in the past with a film camera.

It does look like a Glock, but the baseplate on the spare mag by his hand doesn't look terribly Glockish

But its really hard to tell with the angles, but a Glock 17 or 22 seems most likely.

Here it is with the exposure up, and sharpened a bit. I don’t see much motion blur. By how fat the grip is, and how smooth, my guess is there’s some sort of grip sleeve.

The sights look Glocky, but the grip shape doesn't. Maybe it's a sleeve? I think my Canik that's a copy of the Walther P99 has a grip that looks kind of like that. Maybe I'm misremembering. I'm pretty sure I have a pistol with a grip that looks like that, anyway.

Maybe I'm imagining things, but it looks possible that the back of the grip could be the kind where you can remove it and use different sizes.

Got to go along with the majority on this one...looks like a full size Glock with a grip sleeve on it.

A few years ago when the Forest Service began issuing pistols they were Glocks. The reason they started issuing guns was the number of illegal pot growers that were using national forests to grow there crops. This information was told to me by a friend who's father was in the Forest Service.

Looks like a Glock with a rubber grip sleeve. Probably a 17.
I used to bump into in a Forest Service LEO years ago when I used to camp and hunt in the mountains near LA, CA and he had a Glock 17 but had a rifle in his truck for the 4 legged kind of trouble

Digital stabilization only compensates for camera movement. I agree it looks like the subject moved.

Looks like a Glock to.me.

What we’re seeing in cell-phone cameras in recent years is very similar to what’s often called “motion smoothing” in digital televisions. The cameras are capturing video, not true stills, and compiling images to produce less blur. I started noticing this a few years ago when I couldn’t reconcile appropriate frame captures from videos, then noticed how certain dynamic stills were capturing impossible photos - a football which appeared ~3ft long, for example, with no other distortion in the shot.

It’s actually very frustrating - what we see isn’t what we get, and in some cases, the settings can’t be disabled to come back to a true image.

[End mild wannabe photographer rant]

Talked to my buddy and...

It's a Glock G17. He also has a Colt AR15 and a Remington 870, as well as a back up G26.

Glock G20 - 10mm
Glock G29 - 10mm
HK 417 A2 - 7.62 x 51
Benelli M4 - 12 ga

I'm assuming you wanted to "juice" up the arsenal a little bit.
