They are nice but not $2k nice in my opinion. I would find a Saiga Sporter and do the conversion. One can find one of those for 800-900 and convert it for another 200-400 depending on what one does with it and have a Izhmash made AK. But if you could find an Arsenal for 1500-1600 given today’s current prices your probably good.

Whether or not they are worth it depends upon the buyer and their likes/ wallet.
I can tell you that I have owned around 15 different AK style rifles. My first was an SLR95. Foolishly sold it. I then purchased one or two more later.
I think over all yes the early SLR was the best example I ever owned. I had a real accurare SGL 31 that was lighter. I also now have an SLR 107 F that is light and accurate.
The most accurate AK's I have run into are the 16" Saiga 308's. The 21" Saiga 308 is not as accurate as the 16. Very nice rifles.
My most accurate 7.62X39 was the early SLR. It would regularly do 2" groups at 100 yds with 4-5 shot groups. One time I clover leafed three shots at 100 yds open sights with it to the astonishment of my buddy sighting in his 7 mag. No it wouldnt do that all the time, but pretty sure you could hit pop can at 100 yds regularly. I had 2 identical SGL31 rifles one was a serious shooter like the SLR but the other one was not.
The SLR did not come with a side rail but there was a nice kit you could buy called the mpk-2. It is still available. I had an original Kobra EKP03-01S sight zeroed on the 95 to hit bowling pins at 100 yds. Take the sight off, slide it back on and lock it, and go right back to hitting the pins. I would take an as-new SLR95 with box for 1100 about any day because I have nostalgia with it, and it was very high quality. It takes a back seat to no other AK I have had for quality. It was higher quality than my current SLR 107 which already has a wobly piston and came with canted front sight . When you think solid smooth 7.62X39 think SLR-95. When you think bugout bear defense for example think Saiga 308 with quality mags.
