.35 caliber wildcats

Looking at your desires... it seems the .358 Norma mentioned above answers almost all of your wants. It’s pretty much a custom proposition, so you can build a rifle to your specs and have at it!

A 250 gr bullet launched at 2,800 fps is no joke!

Stay safe.
not want belts......

a 35RCM would be pretty close to a .350 Remington magnum, no belt and slightly better performance than a standard...or maybe even an AI 35 whelen.

35 Nosler would be neat, sounds good anyway.

I think I'd probably lean towards 358 WSM for those requirements. Apparently it's called the 35 Sambar as well, a guy on another forum said he was getting 2,950 fps with 225gr pills out of his. I don't know if you're going full custom, or just barrel swapping a factory rig, but if it's there latter, there's no shortage of lightly used rifles chambered in the WSMs floating around.

The .35 Whelen Improved is only a semi-wildcat, but is worth considering because it represents about the max that can be accomplished by uniting a .35 caliber bullet with the '06 case. Besides that it has the charming prospect being probably the only .35 Imp in your neighborhood. And it's also a good fit for a standard length action you have laying around looking for something to do, like this Argentine Mauser I had put together a few years back.View attachment 871179 View attachment 871180 View attachment 871181
Wow ! That is perfect ! The 1909 Action in a refined state, love the choice of Cartridge which can take factory ammo and is easily made. Who did the stock ? Looks like an old master like Biesen or such ! Wow! just Wow !

I had a "Spark Plug" .350 Remington Mag as Col. Cooper called it. He used 250 grain bullets and so did I . The extra powder cap. over the .35 Remington did not get you much in a 18" barrel the 660 Remingtons had . I could only get 2400 fps in the mid 80s with mine with 250 grain spitzer bullets. The Remington only had .308 SA length and the bullets had to be deeply seated . The shortened belted H&H cases only held 3006 type charges with no bullet seated and when you deep seated the 250 gain bullets to fit the action, then you had a strong .358. Winchester. The WSM case looks promising, but not in a short action. If you want a hi velocity .35 you are gonna have to have a 30-06 length action to shoot 250 grain bullets. My .358 Norma does that with common H&H brass at .338 Win Mg length.. That .35 Whelan ackly Imp really look sweet. I would imagine 2800 FPS with 250 grain bullets from a 22"+ barrel are possible.
I had a 600 in .350 and man did it kick. Traded it to Wild West Guns in AK decades ago. Wish I would have kept it, but I figured it belonged in AK.

What did you use to finish that stock? I like it.

Also to the OP, I’ve always wanted a 358 Shooting Times Alaskan , but that has a belt. (375hh necked to .358 and the shoulder blown out). It will sling a 250gr bullet close to 2900fps though.

neat thing about the .35-375 is that ANY magnum faced standard or long action is useable. feeding shouldn't even really be an issue, I'm using ultramag magazines in my Abolt, but if I kept my coal below 3.4 I could use my stock 7mm magazine.
