Good time to be a revolver fan, new Kimber Target announced

Have to watch out for this and see what retail ends up being. Looks like a really nice revolver.

Would be a handy trail gun that's for sure. But 25 oz is a bit light for a "target" gun if your shooting anything with some oomph behind it. Price puts it out of my range aswell, for that kind of money I'd rather try that new king cobra target or buy an old S&W. But whatever floats your boat. It does seem like a nice revolver.

Looks promising though like MidRoad just commented I would like to see how the new Colt King Cobra Target compares to it.

Very nice!
But, what I’d really like to see from Kimber is a K fame sized 8 shot .357 DASA with adjustable sights!
Considering how nice my K6s trigger feels I really want to see them work their magic on a larger frame
Hey Kimber, how about a K8s?

I agree and I would also like them to make an aluminum frame model of both chambered in 38 so they could shave some weight off.

The 4" DASA "Combat" would be something I'd seriously consider for carry but I have a few misgivings:

The finger-groove grips are no good. The grips on the target model are better for combat.
The front bead sight is better for carry than the fiber optic sight on the target model, but there needs to be an option for mounting a RDS.
I'm unlikely to consider an option without moon clips. I understand the K6 cylinder is shrunk to the limits of technology and cutting it is ill-advised. But clips are essential to someone who trains and practices a lot.

If anything, it needs to gain weight. Try practicing for a few hours with a 9mm LCR if you like lightweight. Going that light, the overwhelming majority of people end up selecting 38 Specials that perform insufficiently on standardized tests.

I like it. But I am sure its out of my price range. And the light weight looks good to me. It should work fine with my favorite mid range 357 load. I am glad to see anyone who makes a new revolver in this day and age. Not all of us want or need 15 shots. And trail guns are my favorite category. The best use for a revolver except SD.

Good for them..... and maybe ME too one day.

I like the MSRP considering the market and my impression of their first venture into revolvers.

Todd.

Their prices tell me they're very proud of both the gun and accessories. The speedloader price is about three times what an HKS goes for.

Don't really need another revolver, my $400 S&W 65 police turn in still works well. Accurate and a great trigger.

Sounds wonderful but you can only fit 7 rounds of 357 in an L frame, much less a K frame. Did you mean an N frame? Or did you mean 327?

Very impressive indeed. Six shots, very smooth trigger, and for a revolver, reasonably small, in terms of frame size and cylinder diameter. Reminds me a bit of the Colt Police Positive Special.

For every day concealed concealed, I prefer a semi-auto--for the trigger, capacity, flatness--but his would make a nice belt gun for the outdoors, or perhaps for an occupation requiring a revolver, such as some security guards.

I do not lead anything with .357 magnum rounds except for a five-inch L Frame. But the .38 Special is not your great-grandfather's .38 Long Colt.

Kimber or Colt Cobra? I would have to play with both.

I do have a two-inch K6, and I like it.

I meant K frame.
I know that currently the max is 7 in a K size but I think with a slightly larger cylinder Kimber might be able to pull it off.

I wonder if that hammer spur being so close to the rear sight as it appears, will annoy me as I shoot DA a lot.

Might just be perspective....

I have a German 6 shot .357 snub nose that cost me $175 new.
I took it to a really talented gunsmith who did a trigger job on it worthy of the S&W PC for $35.

For one fifth as much I got something just as good.

When I first looked at the picture, I thought it looked, well, strange. The way the barrel shroud is integral is different, it makes the barrel look oblong. Also, the cylinder release button looks like a glued-on afterthought.

The more I look at it, the better it looks.
The rear sight is dovetailed in, and the front sight appears pinned. Both could be replaced relatively easily, should one wish.
The grip looks long enough to get a good hold, and the curve is pleasing to the eye.
The integrated shroud/barrel makes me think it's a 2-piece design, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I would like to see pics from different angles.

And I still think they need to work on the cylinder release button. It looks like it was forgotten about during design, and when they realized they needed one someone borrowed one from a kids capgun and stuck it on.

I prefer the look of fluted cylinders and half lug barrels. Barrel is short for representing as a target gun.

It does look cheesy in the picture but I’ve handled and played with several K6s now. It’s actually very nicely machined and it’s function feels very positive to me.

But we all have different taste. I’m not trying to tell you to like something you don’t.

Looks awesome but a bit pricey.
Good to see Kimber expanding their line of revolvers. Very fine looking revolver but pricey for what would be used by most for 38 spl due to weight(25oz), same as SP101 2.25" 357 magnum, which isn't a lot of fun at the range shooting 357 magnum (IMO). I'd also like to see a larger framed Kimber offered in the future.
