I'm a Streamlight bigot, but I try to keep an open mind. So, I went to the OLight web site and discovered their US HQ and their store is right around the corner from me. Cool.

After exploring their web site I found their breath of products rather limited. The magnetic recharger is neat though.

Now I realize it's tough to find things not made in or at least sourced from China, but I was a little turned off that OLight is a totally Chinese company.

Still will drop by the store and check things out in person.

Late to the party here but I have a decent stash of flashlights and carry one every day.

4 sevens isn't a brand you hear much about anymore, but I have a few that are probably 10 years old and still work well. They didn't seem to keep up with the other brands as far as brightness and features, but if you see a model you like they are pretty good.

I have been through a couple of O-light. The downfall on these for me was the rubber button the side to select brightness. I train horses, help some local farmers and do a lot of welding and equipment repair and that was just a little too rough handling and the side buttons would rip off. I wasn't interested in shipping the lights to china for repair. I went through 2 of the M18 maverick models before deciding to look elsewhere. Really did like the light, but when the side button rips off its very inconvenient. They may have fixed this problem by now.

I tried Nitecore and bought a P12. Very nice light, but the pocket clip was always popping off on me. Still have the light but it is reserved to backup duty at this point.

My current favorite is a Thrunite TN12 (I have the 2016 model). Its a similar size the P12 but the clip is more robust and hasn't ever popped off on me. The side button is metallic and hasn't caused any problems, and I really like the spread of choices for brightness. I usually keep in a medium setting, but if I am out in a bean field at night, its just 2 taps on the button to have over 1000 lumens with a pretty nice throw. It's also one of the cheaper options in this class of light.

Edit to add: I run all of these light on 18650 rechargeable batteries and have a dedicated charger, its much cheaper than running CR123's if you use the light on a regular basis.

FWIW we have been having this discussion for a month. During that time I have done an informal survey of every cop I've run into and every single one of them carries a Streamlight.

But you also have to factor in that there's only one police supply store in town and they only carry Streamlight products.

Still I think that's pretty significant that every cop I've run into that's what that they carry is Streamlight.

If my Fenix lights ever totally give up the ghost I might consider a Streamlight

If your Fenix has proven to be a great flashlight why switch my LD22 has been a great light if i ever lose it or it does break i will get the same thing it just works and best of all it uses AA

I think I pretty much said I wasn't planning to switch but if I ever have to replace my Fenix I'm at least going to look at the Streamlight.

I had to send my UC35 back to the distributor for some repairs. I should be getting it back in the mail today. How they handle this warranty claim will have great bearing on how long I remain their customer

Keep us updated on how they handle it customer services impacts my customer loyalty to date i have not had to send anything back to them knock on wood

I was going to say very good things about olight, but when I was charging my little rechargeable keychain light today, a couple of pieces fell off. We'll see if I can easily reinstall them.

Whatever you get make sure it has a glass lens. I keep buying penlights because they’re indispensable when I’m fixing farm machinery in the dark (often come in handy during the day too) and all that dirt eventually makes the plastic lenses all cloudy. Tiny little scuffs that you can’t wipe off.

Right now I have a mini mag light that I bought a few months ago hoping it would be better than the cheapo tractor supply ones I got in a two pack but the lens is still plastic! The construction is much more durable which is nice for when it gets dropped but these cloudy lenses are driving me crazy.

I was searching for my Under Armor mask for hunting and came across my winter coat. I hung the coat up for 2 weeks and one day decided to look in the pocket to see what was in there. I found the UA mask and was so excited. I then put the coat on 3 days ago and found my LD22 in the pocket. I thought it was stolen because when I was in the Police academy of all things we had a thief or someone who liked to take peoples gear and then hide it and blame a cadet that was sort of special needs. The last place I remember the light was inside my tac vest and then it was gone. I guess the knuckle head hid it in my internal coat pocket. One day I had a pair of cuffs missing from my duty belt during training and he blamed another cadet. That cadet denied taking them and I found them 2 days later in my workout bag in the classroom. Last time I wore that coat was February when we did traffic stops, so he must have taken if from my vest at lunch time and hid it in the coat pocket because 2 weeks later during building searches it was gone from the vest.

I have a streamlight protac hl-x I took the clip off it and carry it inside the pocket for the better part of a year now. I use it everyday and am very impressed with how bright it is, but am not impressed that sometimes it acts up and will not turn on or work correctly.
