Hey guys, I've recently built a 6 dasher remage setup that I wanted to share about. It's a nss criterion 7.5 twist 26" remage barrel threaded 5/8x24, Remington action, ptg bolt, trued recoil lug and nut, timney Calvin elite trigger, and a mc3 legend stock. Shot several different loads and wasnt getting any accuracy that satisfied me until I tried the 107 smk and re16. It ended up well below 1/2moa using norma dasher brass and cci 450 primers.

I settled upon 107 smk, norma brass trimmed to lapua length, cci 450, 35.5gr re16. Heres a picture of my first group at distance to prove the load. This was shot at vets shooting center @ 600yds.

Todd.

I re-read the OP after seeing this, and kinda had to chuckle. You’re right, like most things, folks standing on the edge of a deep knowledge well will feel like non-native speakers to hear the conversation happening inside.

I work in Mexico quite a bit, and can communicate well, even with technical staffers, but then I’ll ride a bus with a group of pure native speakers, not dialoging, but in a cacophonous conversation pile... then I recall how far from fluent I really am...

Is there a Google-tech-late button?

How's 'bout a pic of the, er.... rifle? For technolacking folk like myself.

Is a PTG bolt something from Pacific Tool & Gage?

Todd.

6 dasher - popular long range cartridge holds many benchrest records
remage - rem700 with savage barrel nut
nss criterion - a brand of barrels
remage barrel - a type of barrel that works with savage nut on rem action
trued recoil lug and nut - means it wasn’t square from the factory so a gunsmith was paid to straighten it
107 smk - popular bullet in grains
re16 - new powder brand from Allianz
dasher brass - dasher is usually made by fireforming lapua 6BR brass but norma made a factory run of dasher
Klingon - a fictitious language from Star Trek
Todd - a poster on an Internet gun forum

any more questions? Lol

All is now clear.... and trued, in my mind. Thank you for the abbreviated glossary.

That is mostly correct :D

Remage is the names of Remington and Savage squished together.

You take a Remington action, which typically uses a barrel with a machined shoulder, but instead you install a barrel the way Savage does it- no shoulder, and is threaded into the action until it achieves the proper headspace. Once that is accomplished, you use a jam nut to lock the barrel in place. The barrel and the nut are threaded for 1-1/16 x 16 tpi, while Savage uses 1.055"-20, so they are not interchangeable.

I have a 223 setup this way and it works well. You can see the jam nut on the end of the action in this pic
