We didn't think it would happen here in Washington either.
Apparently our Attorney General Bob Ferguson is getting bold since he didn't get disbarred for his involvement in writing/pushing I-1639 and his failure to protect I-976. Now he is writing and pushing for another attempt at an "Assault Weapons" ban and a magazine ban
His job is to ENFORCE EXISTING LAWS, not write new ones that are clearly unconstitutional on federal and state levels.
Please write, call, visit the AG office, the state Bar association, and/ or any state representatives you can and lets bring this to light. Our tax money is being used against us to deprive us of our own rights. This has to end now before we end up in the position that Virginia is in.

Pay attention to what our response is in VA. Sanctuary counties, county militia orders or duputizations, rallies in the capitol, ...

Real action on the part of the sleeping RKBA supporters now that they're awake.

If you loose at the state level you still have recourse at the local...if people will just try.

I have.... I am just saying it may take more.
To be more effective, we must focus our time and energy.

Instead of focusing on things that hasn't happened or not likely to happen, let's focus on things that are happening right now.

VA anti gun bills are moving forward for voting - Let's focus on supporting the fight against these bills becoming laws. Support VCDL anyway you can - https://www.vcdl.org/

If you cannot attend the lobby day rally, buy bus seats so others can attend and voice their opposition against the bills.

It's not just VA that is facing anti gun bills. There are many other states facing anti gun bills by the hundreds and support state specific pro gun organizations and/or national pro gun organizations of your choice.

Do you all really want to wait 3.5 years to resolve this folks?
So, what do you propose instead? We are not waiting for anything, we are being active, matching our involvement with what is actually happening at the moment, not going overkill with what may or may not happen in the future.
Anyone who believes the rally on Jan 20th will stop the bills from passing is living in a fantasy world.
It is not a rally. Rallies are about feeling better about being in an echo chamber. It is Lobby Day. Going door-to-door with the legislators, some of which may have a rural/gun-ownership background, and explaining our point of view, as their constituents who control their re-election chances.

I'm knee deep in the situation and boots on the ground in the struggle. This isn't going to the supreme court. Our plan of action is simple
Lobby day meetings with reps and present signature petitions from those not able to attend.
Targeting certain districts and supporting sympathetic candidates
Gathering as much money for VCL as we can.
Urging all friends, family and contacts to write, call and email their senators and reps and vote!
Support only 2A friendly candidates in the future.

So I wrote an email to Bob Ferguson pointing out where is is failing as our Attorney General. He couldn't even write back. He sent his liaison to feed me a line of nothingness from some sort from an anonymous temporary email address that I can't reply to.
Here is what I got:

"Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your recent message to the Washington State Attorney General’s Office. I am the Constituent Correspondence Liaison for the office and Attorney General Ferguson asked that I respond to you on his behalf.

We appreciate the fact that you took the time to share your thoughts about gun laws in our state and country. These are certainly challenging issues.

Attorney General Ferguson is committed to taking additional steps to reduce firearms fatalities and injuries in Washington, with a goal towards making our homes and communities safer while protecting the constitutional rights of the people of Washington State.

Thank you again for communicating with our office.

Kindly,
A. Baker
Constituent Correspondence Liaison"

If we follow the law this will leave us bare and unprotected against criminal threats and threats from animals. If we want to be legal and not be in fear of being arrested for illegal gun possession we will have to dispose of our guns. Now we are bare and naked.

While we support and respect law enforcement and understand they have a very tough job. The average response time in an emergency to get law enforcement is up to 30 min. Which is always to late.
What about civil disobedience?

It worked for Rosa Parks.

I would say there is a big difference between tossing tea into the Boston harbor, as well as taking over a radio station in Chicago. Guns weren’t the issue, and weren’t used, or at least weren’t the center of the issue.

The problem we face with doing so is public perception. Civil disobedience for us might make us look like just another gang of thugs.

Even the Virginia lobby day, was a peaceful rally that made some think the crowd was just full or redneck hillbilly white supremist thugs, when really the crowd was full of just about any demographic you can think of! All races, sexes, creed, nationalities, religion, sexual orientation and age...

Terrible title for the thread. I skipped it for two months because the title talks about Virginia, not Washington.

I'm not sure why civil disobedience would make us look like a gang of thugs. The idea of "civil" disobedience is to disobey unjust laws in a peaceful or civil manner so that enforcement of the laws makes the authorities appear to be the thugs.

Washington state needs its own solutions based on the demographics, BUT a strong RKBA organization engaged in the state is needed to coordinate the efforts.

SAF is headquartered in WA, but they have a different focus. What 2A grassroots organizations are there in WA to help legislators see that their own constituents are concerned enough about this "tail wags the dog" problem with the Governor and Seattle that constituents might vote them out?
