Reversable Sight Adheasive?
I need to "glue" a rear aperture sight on to a receiver, and then remove it after accuracy testing.

Rifle is a Martini Cadet, in .310 Cadet (basiclly a .32 H&R mag)

Sight is a BSA #7 intended to be installed on the Cadet with 2 screws.

Bottom of sight and rear of receiver match profiles very well.

Rifle generates very little recoil.

I have manufactured ammo using 7.62 Nagant brass, cast and powder coated projectiles, and the little rifle keeps shooting better and better, but I have reached the limit of my older eyes using the standard sights.I started with my reloads shooting ~ 10 moa, and have gotten it down to ~ 2.5 moa, and feel the rifle can shoot even better.

I don't want to drill and tap the receiver and ruin the collector value but have been enjoying the process of bringing this little rifle back to not just operational condition, but back to its full potential.

Can anyone recommend a reversible adhesive for steel?

3M makes some high strength 2 sided tape that might work for you. It has a rating of around 90# / sq in . Comes in a roll around 3/4" wide. Think I found it at Home depot or Walmart, been over 4 yrs since I bought it.

LocTite has some thread locker that will work but you will need to apply heat to remove it after wards.

The 3M adhesive I used was red in color.

I'd also suggest tapes. I like this for several purposes, have done stuff like temporary sight fitting with it, rarely:

VERY thin stuff, so doesn't mess up dimensions much more than things like adhesive liquid layers.

Degrease well and it will likely hold. If you can get around properly (I may be misunderstanding which sight you are assembling), I'd consider mechanically retaining as well. Chunk of bike inner-tube, for example, to keep the sight tight to the stock/barrel assembly. Very safe, non-marking, reversible, and secure enough for pretty real recoil then.

Black Max is popular for gluing sights and scope bases on guns you don't want to d&t. It can be removed with heat.

That happens to be one of the very best shock-absorbing and durable cyanoacrylate adhesives in the world. I know from my experience using it in industry. Its only disadvantage is it should be stored under refrigeration. I have a little bottle in my fridge right now, waiting for its next use. Just make sure that the surfaces are really clean ahead of time. The stuff is almost unbelievable.
