I have grown a fondness for rimfire handguns, with the .22 Magnum being at the top of my rimfire want list. I’ve been saving and searching for a Model 48 with a 6” barrel to become a twin to my Model 17-2 6” .22LR, but finding one under $900.00 OTD was pretty much impossible.

I found one on GB with a starting bid of $650.00. I bid, no one else did, and it was mine for $675.00 with shipping. Fees and tax added another 120.00. A bit pricy, but it filled a void .

it’s a 48-4, and it came with the original box and papers and an extra set of larger manga grips. There isn’t a much of a turn line on the cylinder, the bluing is great, both sets of grips are unchipped and the trigger is really nice in both DA and SA.

I shot it recently but the ammo was garbage. I’ll post about that separately.

Stay safe.

I passed on a 4 inch model 48 last summer. Didn't really want a 22 mag. Now I'm kicking myself. IIRC the price was around $550. Probably could have got it around $500.00
I woulda been all over that!
I guess the 48 is sorta rare, no one I talked to at ever am LGS or pawn shops ever had one for sale.

Merely a personal choice. It’s like the reasons why people hide their SSN, Driver license, why google blurs your vehicles license plate in the street view, etc.

For me, it’s a unique number to this gun, and I’d like to show the serial number range without allowing some unscrupulous person to possibly use it.

Like submitting paperwork to the State to register in their name then reporting it stolen for insurance $$, or stamping a stolen gun with a legit serial to throw off investigators. These aren’t even all of the things I’ve seen/heard crooks doing with serialized property. There are lots of fraudsters out there, and to a careful crook it can be done as easily as switching the VIN plate on a stolen car.:)

Stay safe.

That is absolutely beautiful! I just scored a mint 27 5" not long ago so I know your joy!

Have fun with that wonderful sixgun,

Matt
Nice! The big N frame makes the .357 a pussycat to shoot, and the 5” is my favorite barrel length. (I find it the best if all worlds, not too short for fun target shooting and not so long as to be unwieldy) I’m sure you’ll love that one as well!

I feel the same way about the Model 27 with a 5" barrel! Would love to have one with that barrel length!
