Taurus G3 -quick range report

I have a Taurus G3. I don't have any issue with POI. It pretty much shoots where I aim. I did replace the sights with Lakeline sights. Honest outlaw had a review and lost his front sight. I put Blue loctite on my front sight, tightened it, and haven't had a problem with it at all.

The only issue,-and this is nitpicking- are the memory groves. I have medium sized hands and the groove for my index finger seems a bit far. Other than that, it is a great gun. For the price, it can't be beat.

The only other issue is the availability of holsters and other accessories. Because it is so new, there isn't as much variety, but in time I'm sure it is only a matter of time.

I've put well over 500 rounds through it and only had one issue. But it was not the fault of the firearm, because It was a reload. I switched to FMJ ammo and haven't had any issues. I'll go back to lead bullets, but I think it was an issue with the way the bullet is molded. I am going to try ACME bullets as they are shaped more closely to FMJ bullets.

I will agree that take-up is a bit long, but for the price, it's something one can easily get used to.

Great gun at a great price, Taurus definitely has upped their game.

Personally, I feel this is quite a gamble for myself. I have never been real impressed with any taurus I have owned. I also had to pass up the first G3 I came across at another store because the mag wouldn't eject.

At the range I only fired about 80 rounds due to time constraints.

Pros.
This pistol is very accurate. No hangups of any kind. Grip texture and shape feel good.

Cons.
POI is low 3" at 5-10 yards.
Trigger has ALOT of take up.

This may be just me but my trigger finger rubs on the inside of the trigger guard and quickly became uncomfortable.

Conclusion.
Good for the money.

My G2 is dead on with a Combat Sight Picture (IE hits center of front dot). Where you by chance using a 6 o'clock hold?

I think the slack would be pretty normal for a SA/DA Pistol. Did you by chance drop the striker to see what the DA felt like? Of course I have no idea how you would access it without a misfire with a loaded gun.

If you are doing a 6 o'clock hold, then yes, your shots are going to be low. Put the dot in the center of your target. Factory sights are ok, the plain metal sights from Lakeline make a big improvement. I own the G2C, but have test fired the G3, both shoot very accurate. The trigger does take a bit to get use to, but once you do, it feels fine. At least to me anyways. Also never had any issue with my finger rubbing the inside of the guard.

@Crazy Horse , the triggers are exactly the same fitment, however mfg says you will need a G2 trigger spring, for your G3 (also available there).

Daughter picked one up for concealed carry. She says it's good to go (and I raised her on SIGs and 1911s), though I haven't shot it yet.

I did have for quite a while one of the original Millenium Pros, more than adequately accurate and dead-nuts reliable, nice lightweight concealed carry piece … that I traded off because … I didn't feel comfortable depending on a "budget pistol," even though it'd more than proven itself (and … it was a Taurus). Crazy, because my old (1991 vintage) trusty PT-92 is one of my most cherished pistols, and the Model 85CH SS (1992) one of the best little revolvers I've ever owned. Sometimes I think some of us let brand snobbery get in our own way …
