Hello friends, we did a lot of 10 shot challenges last year, I wasn't planning anymore anytime soon but this thread inspired me to make one.
https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/do-you-find-accuracy-fun.864744/

Please no debate in this thread on the legalities or wisdom of taking a self defense shot at certain distances, it is a see what you can do challenge meant to be fun and maybe informative.

Please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

THE RULES

You will fire 10 shots onto the approved target listed which for this challenge will be a B-8 25 yd rapid fire target for the 10 yard, 15 yd and 25 yd classes. Scoring will be scored by adding up the score for all 10 shots. A shot touching a line counts as the next numbering up. For instance if a shot touches the line separating the 7 and 8 the score is a 8. A X counts as 10 points.

ONE TRY ONLY per gun, this is a self defense challenge, in real life you don't get try again to do better, 10 shots in one minute timed. I thought about making it 30 seconds but it will be one minute for the challenge. Have your weapon ready, start the timer, take 10 shots, show us your target. 100_2951.JPG

Allowed handguns are any one you would realistically use for self defense. You can enter as many guns as you want that fall under realistic defense carry handgun, but you can only try once with each in a timed one minute 10 shot volley.

Firearm must be held one handed or two handed, no rests, no benching

You can download the target and make copies online although however I downloaded it on a standard printer paper 8.5 x 11 inch paper, see example photo attached at bottom the target which is slightly smaller than standard targets that are bought or ordered and the printed ones cut out part of the 7 ring so it's best to buy some if you can. You may use any color target or put a sticker in the center X circle if you want to help aiming as long as it fits correct. See the sample target in the photo the B-8 target you get it has to have a X ring there are some available that just use orange for the whole ten ring and that can't be used

There will be three classifications.

Class 1, 10 shots at 10 yds 60 seconds timed with B-8 target
Class 2, 10 shots at 15 yds, 60 seconds timed with B-8 target
Class 3, 10 shots at 25 yds 60 seconds timed with B-8 target

Please include with the target submission

username
classification entered class 1, 2 , 3
score
firearm
ammunition

then take a pic of it and post it here, if you would post a pic of the firearm used as well.

If you have a family member or friend that wants to enter they can using your user name and firearm just make notes when posting.

The cutoff date for submissions is May 31 2020

Please submit targets even if you don't think they'll win as the information on how well what shoots may be valuable to other members

Good luck and good shooting

Any questions such as how to post pics or qualifying firearms, or links to possible target downloads please feel free to as

Looks like fun!

Just thinking out loud here, but since it’s a defensive gun challenge, would it be worthwhile to do something more in line with how self defense guns are often used? I’m thinking an up-close, short time limit class? Something like 5 rounds at 5 yards in 5 or 6 seconds.

Or maybe something like that for the challenge after this one.

Let's leave it as is, anything below 10 yards we already know scores would come back high, there was debate in the linked thread on taking a defense shot at longer distances, let's see what people can do at 10, 15 and 25 yards in 60 seconds, with one try only. Don't want to debate in this thread, let's just see what people can do on target which the target placed on my chest and torso pretty much covers me and I am a average sized man.

I'll leave it to members to decide what is a realistic defensive handgun, safe to say a Desert Eagle and such doesn't quality

This challenge goes into May but due to the virus thus ammo supply getting short and ranges maybe being closed this challenge may be a bust, we will see.

It's a couple months yet... people will post when they can.
I forgot I already shot the P230 so this one doesn’t count, dang it
