Hey all,
Just got a new Glock 17 and after picking it up i was told they were sold out of all 9mm ammo. I called around and researched online, no one has 9mm ammo.
Does anyone know somewhere that has 9mm in stock?
Thanks!

Sadly when the masses get nervous in times of uncertainty ammo can become scarce. I was at the LGS 2 weeks ago and the poor guy couldn't keep up with stocking ammo on the shelf. Last time that happened to me, I learned to always have a stock pile on hand of both range and SD ammo

My basement. I didn't cause the current outage. I reloaded it all myself. I can certainly understand the frustration of having a firearm and no ammo. All the big players in the ammo space seem to be out. J&G Sales still has some advertised.

In case you haven't heard, there is a serious virus going around.

Some people who are infected become very ill.

Many who are infected have no symptoms at all.

But in one group of those infected, it causes an irresistible urge to hoard one product or another - usually toilet paper or ammo.

wow, they want nearly $380 for 1,000 of 9 mm....

that's insane.

Bad time to pick up a new caliber. I've got a 300 Blackout upper arriving tomorrow and had to search around to find Lee dies for 300 BO in stock anywhere, so even some reloading supplies are tough to find right now.

Some local jackasses at a store I will never patronize again are selling S&B 9mm ball for $30/ 50 rounds.

What's wrong with that? Supply and demand.

Would you rather pay $30 for one box, or $0 for zero boxes?

I wished that gas stations would be allowed to double fuel prices during storm season, as their tanks get low. That way people who DESPERATELY need to get fuel, still can. Many of those seasons I literally had to calculate ''bingo fuel'' for my work truck like you would for a helicopter. So I can make it back to a known good gas station. With an emergency 55g drum of fire in the bed of the truck of course.

they are only allowing for 1 box of 50 cartridges....no more.

my bad, that was only one brand that i looked up, but for 1,000 rds of another they want...$315.....wow.
It's not for a thousand, it's for 1444 rounds. That's only 22 cents a round. I'm afraid the days of 17 dollars a hundred rounds of brass are gone for the time being.

It is called price gouging.

Price gouging is illegal in many states, particular during times of emergency. Florida and North Carolina are two states where that would apply.

I wished that gas stations would be allowed to double fuel prices during storm season, as their tanks get low. That way people who DESPERATELY need to get fuel, still can.

That plan would not work at all. When you increase the price dramatically, often what results is that only those people who can afford the product can get it. The rich may or may not be in desperate need, but will buy it and maybe buy it in excess, but many who are DESPERATELY in need of it won't be able to afford it.

Then you get to stare at an empty shelf.

And an empty gas tank. Who does that help? The poor still have no fuel, or ammo.

What really sucks?....................Price gouging laws are communism, not capitalism. That's why they don't work, and why your ammo shelves and TP shelfs are as empty as a Venezuelan grocery store.

This ''crisis'', hopefully, will only be practice. And a wake up call.

What's wrong with that? Supply and demand.

If our economy functioned on pure supply and demand there wouldn’t be farmers and our oil industry would be completely shuttered right now. There is no first world country that operates like that.

Price gouging is how you lose customers after a crisis. Limiting ammo to one box a customer also achieves your goal of ammo on the shelf.

I learned long ago, it’s always a good idea to have an emergency reserve. I got caught one time without. I swore that would never happen again. When I find something at a good price I buy it. In the last 25 years I’ve not needed to ask where’s the ammo, powder, primers, etc. i know where there is enough to last me and mine through the lean times. I don’t have to worry about price gouging either.

You were “new to the hobby” ( your self reference) in 2010. We have seen significant swings in availability and pricing since then , including a real ammo drought during the last administration. Most of us learned a valuable lesson from that.

I wish you luck finding 9mm - it’s out there , but pricey. Hopefully this experience will motivate you to keep an ear to the rail and plan ahead.

If you have a gun or two and a couple boxes of ammo already for self defense , now is not the time to buy. Some sellers are raising prices double or triple on guns and ammo hoping to create even more panic buying hoping you think "well better get a couple more 1000 rd crates or a couple more AR before it goes even higher".

As far as supply and demand and capitalism free markets which I support there is limit, say there was a shortage of life saving medicine and a couple retailers had the last batches, and raised the price to $500 a pill, they are shooting themselves in the foot doing so because that's how you PO the people who THEN elect communists/socialists. They may make out in the short term but in the long term they would not be.

A recommendation, for anyone late to the party. Self defense slingshot. If you live on a gravel road, you'll never have to wonder who has ammo in stock again! Screenshot_2020-03-26-20-03-49~2.png

Try academy sports. Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been able to get about 1000 rounds together of range ammo and a few hundred rounds of sd ammo. Plus what I’ve gotten in other calibers. Not hording. Just restocking.
