I'm jealous! There's just no turkeys where I normally deer hunt here in the panhandle; and I was supposed to get a hunt for Osceolas down south with state forestry, but this stupid covid apocalypse messed that up. Oh, well- there's always next year!

My first Spring Turkey. I have taken several hens during fall seasons but have never had any luck in the spring. Brother did a nice job calling this one in for me. Taken at touch over 40 yards with 2.25 oz of #4 from my old Browning BPS. 1-1/8 spurs and a 8.5-inch beard. Great weekend hunting.

Man I cant believe some of your states open turkey so early. Ohio starts in about 2 more weeks. I haven't been in probably 10yrs and thought about going this year but its not worth the 1.5hr drive one way. They closed the camp ground and we can only hunt until noon.

I will say I am excited for woodchuck season. We start shooting them around Memorial day.

I know it's getting late in the season but you won't need a quota permit to hunt Osceolas in Richloam WMA and there are quite a few there.
Unlike Eastern strain turkeys Osceolas will cross ditches and water to come to your call. The hens are on nests here mostly so the gobblers are searching for some that haven't been bred.

I think Osceolas are easier to hunt than Easterns but not as easy as Rios.

It’s horn hunting season here. I’m a lousy horn hunter. After many many many miles on foot over a two year period I finally had a good weekend. I think bringing my kids is lucky:)

Two days hiking with my girls, youngest found her first elk shed!

Oldest found her second ever elk shed!

And I found a very nice 6x8 set:

I’ll be playing guide in this unit this year for my NY buddy, I hope this bull survives the rut and we can find him in November! Mass shot of one side:

Saw a lot of elk, they are very not-spooked this time of year. Notice background:

Last week of the season here in WI. Been quiet, no gobbling, no yelps or clucks. Called in a few hens but no Tom sightings. Just really quiet. Didn't hunt this morning because my wife and I were running to my sister's property to dig up a bunch of sumac and red dogwoods to plant on our property for deer forage and a bit of year round color. Soooooo.... sipping coffee getting ready to head out at 6 am, see this through the front window lol! Resized_20200522_055703.jpg
Followed by a hen...then these two....

None of them made a sound. Looks like I'm hunting again tomorrow!!! Seems more like deer hunting compared to earlier weeks of the season. Gonna sit down where I think they may move through and make myself invisible.

Be well folks
