I went for a motorcycle ride and as I was going by my favorite LGS I noticed there was no line. There has been a line in front of that store since all this CoVid stuff started.
I decided to go in and say “Hello”. Great bunch of guys work there.
I looked on the wall and there were only 3 long guns on the wall. Nothing I would want or need.
There were 3 handguns in the display case. What stuck out was a stainless Ruger New Vaquero 5.5” in .45 Colt. Kind of surprising as these guys usually have more modern styled and tactical guns there.
I asked Chuck, one of the clerks, if it was new or used and he said “New” as he retrieved it and handed it to me. It felt good in my hand. I fondled it a bit and asked how much?

He said $600.
I bought it.

Got me a new CAS revolver.

I am shocked. As a fellow Californian I cannot recall the last time I saw a handgun in the display case for less than MSRP.

You're gonna love the Ruger and that was a good price. I got the same model years ago. Since I have a Blackhawk and a Contender barrel in 45 Colt, I mostly shoot black powder cartridges I reload in the Vaquero. Accurate, comfortable, and a ton of fun. BP cartridges take a little extra care to clean up but are worth it.

image.jpeg Congrats on a great deal! I picked up a bisley new vaquero in 357 for a Christmas present to myself last year. The second I picked it up I knew I would buy it, the quality was so evident. It's so accurate and is heavy enough it really tames the 357 magnum round. 38 specials are so mild I don't even bother!

I have an older Vaquero in .45 Colt which has a slightly larger frame than the current Vaquero model. It's a very well built revolver, tons of fun to shoot, and is very accurate with both factory ammo and handloads. I'm going to predict that you're definitely going to have many years of enjoyment with your new Vaquero!

You should try 357mag out of an old large frame Blackhawk. The 7.5" one I had even full bore stuff I wouldn't shoot out of my M19 felt downright mundane.

Had one just like it. Pretty.
