Fairly unusual Beretta Model 92FS

Bought this home from my LGS this afternoon. I’ve never seen a 92FS like this one. The slide and barrel are stainless steel. High figure wood grips. The pictures don’t really do it justice. The sides of the slide are highly polished. Over all, it’s in like new condition. Price was $756 out the door. The pistol was on consignment and that price included 7 spare magazines in like new condition. My guess is some type of limited edition 92. Has anyone out there seen a 92FS in this configuration? Can anyone give me any information on this one?
 
Not a beretta expert, but there’s no guarantee that this is how it left the factory. Stainless is easy for a DIY polish job, and could be aftermarket grips.

That said, I’m sure someone in the know will come along with an approximate date of manufacture, because this board has a ridiculous wealth of knowledge to pull from.
 
Looks nice! I would suggest dropping in at the Beretta forum as they are very knowledgeable on them. Did it happen to have the box? The codes on there will often help a lot.

Is there a Y in the serial # by chance? Indicates a demo gun often. Trigger and mag release metal or polymer? Those also help to date it.

I think you did well given the mags you also got.

Had a box but the label is long gone. Went on the Beretta site and ran the serial #. Date of manufacture came back as 2007. Model number JS92F05. The specs on the site references walnut stocks. The trident emblem in the stocks is also stainless. Going to give Beretta a call on Monday. Starting to look more and more like a higher end factory pistol.
 
I had a 92G but almost bought the 92fs in ss back in the early 90’s . I agree that it’s likely a DIY polish with aftermarket grips .
 
Yeah the grips don't match the lower front of the frame, so either Beretta was being cheap or those are aftermarket.

Even if there's a bit of mix and match going on with the grips, it's still a great looking Beretta and you got a real sweet deal on it with the grips and all those mags!
 
Not factory grip screws either. Polishing looks good but not likely factory either. Someone shined that up and customized it. Looks fantastic. Hope beretta says I’m wrong. Nice piece non the less. Congrats.
 
It is most assuredly a factory gun — factory high-polish, factory grips, factory grip screws, and factory whatever else people have said is not factory original. As a couple of other posters have already said, it’s a 92FS INOX High Polish, which was produced in limited numbers in 2007 and 2008.

The standard 92 grip profile leaves the flare at the bottom of the front strap exposed.

Your probably correct. However the slide either has oil on it or somebody tried to remove some scratches. That’s not a factory looking finish.

Looks like it's reflecting something as well. (Overhead lights? Curtains?) Maybe some fingerprints and oil film mixed in, too. I hope the OP will return with a few clearer pics once it's all cleaned up.
 
Well the mystery continues...kind of. The issues raised about my pictures is just an example of my poor picture taking. Nothing wrong with the slide and no evidence of any DIY “customization”. I called Beretta...no one was home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ran the model number that came up on Beretta’s site out on Google. Pulled up an old sale on Guns America and there was a picture that is the spitting image of my pistol that referenced the same model number with high-figure walnut grips. Just too much to be a coincidence. What AustinTX posted about my pistol appears to be correct IMO...Limited edition factory pistol.

As you say maybe not so much of a mystery as you might think. When you wrote "Limited edition factory pistol" I was reminded of a Beretta Model 21 I had some years ago. Picked it up from a dealer at a gun show and he told me that this gun (stainless steel with polished slide flats and nicely finished walnut grips), was part of a limited edition the factory made up the month before. He said they would do this every so often without any announcements or fanfare; just a little something maybe to boost sales of a particular gun.

Good to know. Thank you. Wish Beretta would leave a few bread crumbs on their website about stuff like this. I’m pleased with my purchase. Paid a bit more then I would have liked but considering the 7 additional OEM magazines that came with the pistol I’m okay with the price.

I have the same gun in the box with the label it is factory polished with walnut grips.
 
With the exception of the wood grips the pocs match the 2 Baretta 92 fs pistol I have. Now if it has a stell frame rather aluminium that's a different story.
