When is the last time you fired your nightstand gun?

Not shooting my "go to" gun is why I sold my riot shotgun years ago. Called it my "doom gun" but I went to grab it one night and realized I hadn't shot it in years, so it went away to something that I use more. For me, the shotgun was hard to work into my shooting routine as it wasn't something to shoot skeet with, nor hunt so unless I was just blasting cans I didn't get it into my routine.

A couple of weeks ago. It’s also my carry piece.

Bout a month ago, ran some ammo through all the carry guns and mine sits next to my head on the side table if not on my belt.

My nightstand gun is a Glock 19 which I fired at our indoor range a little over two months ago. Normally it get’s used at the range every 4 or 5 weeks.

Oh, probably two months ago. I had some springs replaced in my CZ SP-01 and they worked like a charm. Like many of you, I have a bed pistol, a garage pistol, a briefcase pistol, and a carry gun which need to be shot regularly, but sometimes I just can't keep up.

Last winter some time. Our soon to be son-in-law, Jon wanted to shoot my 45 ACP, 1911. So I let him, and ran a few rounds through it myself. Jon has his own 45 ACP, 1911 now.

My wife gets upset every time I shoot it. Probably should just shoot at the range instead of in the house.

just kidding. I shoot my carry ammo once a year.... I think..

Its been quite awhile--Ruger P95 backed up by a Maverick Security model--both are rock solid so I'm not really worried about it.

Have been playing with all my other toys lately is mainly why I haven't been using them.

Funny how that happens. I've inspired several people to get 1911's that way.

Yeah, and what's even funnier about it is Jon is a Glock lover and has 4 or 5 of them.
Don't get me wrong - I like some Glocks myself, and have both a Glock 44 and a Glock 19. But this thread is about bedside guns, and my "bedside gun" is a Smith 1911, 45ACP.

Fired a few cylinders through it about a month ago.
I admit before that, it was probably a year.

my "nightstand" (i have a shredder box i clip paddle holsters to) gun changes depending on what i bring to bed....

The one in the safe on my wifes side i shot two weeks ago, the 10mm I usually take to bed got shot last week, as did the .44, and .350 legend. The only two that do offtsn bedside duty that didnt go were the 9mm canik, and the .32 keltec.

I shoot everything I own pretty regularly, and almost everything I own might pull bedside duty depending on what ammo I have on hand.

Every 2-3 weeks ,add fresh ammo.

I took my SAR CM9 G2 out just before the plague hit. Put a hundred mixed 9mm through it without a hiccup. That takes it to about the 700 rounds mark. With the laser on it, it's just point and shoot. Very soft shooter and the grip is fantastic. Not "textured enough" for some people. I don't understand them.

I saw this post yesterday and looked at mine and I feel embarrassed, my Ithaca 12ga headboard gun is still there since we moved in, about 25yrs, still in a gun sock and still functions, I will go shoot it soon, my SD40VE bedside gun has a receipt in the case for a mag I purchased in 2016, my bedroom AR about the same time, the light battery was dead, I replaced it. My EDC Shield45s get shot often.

Since I have young grandkids I don't have a "nightstand gun," I have a "locked in a box on the highest shelf of the closet gun" which is frequently my carry. I guess I usually shoot it every three months or so, but with the current range situation I haven't shot it since last December. I like living near the city but I certainly envy the posters that can have a range on their property.

A week maybe. Glock 20SF and I carry it frequently.

Thank you for asking the question. I read the thread a few days ago and realized it has been a couple of years since my bedside revolver got any exercise. Corrected that today at an indoor range that recently reopened. The range does not allow draw and fire, so I staged the revolver on the table in front of me, grabbed and fired all shots double action; 6 shots one at a time double action, grabbing off the table for each round, then grab and double tap, then grab and triple tap, and finally grab and fire all 6 as quickly as I could keep the sights on the target. 24 shots total.

Model 10 S&W heavy barrel, .38 Special 158 grain target loads at 21 feet. I'm happy.

I shot my VP9 today. I tested the recoil vs. my Canik. The VP9 seems to have a shorter recoil cycle and a bit less muzzle flip, however not a huge difference. I think a lot of it might be related to the grip shape. The Canik grip seems like a hybrid of an HK and a CZ.

As for my answer to this question, a few weeks ago. I have a new nightstand gun. It is not my carry gun.

Just shot mine Friday. It still puts holes in targets both rapidly and accurately, reliably.

Range never closed here so I go at least once a week. EDC is my night stand pistol. Pistols was last week so we are good. Took some rifles out yesterday

Way, way too long. I always keep a revolver for my nightstand gun because I go long periods between using it and don't like leaving magazines loaded for that long.

Yesterday. 150 rounds of Golden Saber 124gr +p. I am starting to like that load the more I shoot it.

I have a Walther P99 in the bedroom along with my wife's S&W mod 63 in .22LR. I think the last time I shot both of those was maybe 5 years ago. This is a good reminder to take a few of my handguns out and go run a few rounds just for the sake of it. Been awhile. Thanks for the prod.
