I don’t call it a “rotation,” as that implies staying within a specific order, and/or giving equal time to each weapon. I simply carry what works for the clothing I am wearing. I may carry the same individual handgun, day after day, for weeks, or may carry two or three different guns, within the same day.
I will cite three handguns, within my reach, at this moment. One is a 3” Wiley Clapp GP100, with an XS Sights Big Dot Tritium front, and a Novak rear. This is a wonderful night-time weapon, but not the best for long-range use, in good light. Another is a 4” Ruger Speed Six, with low-profile factory fixed sights, and compact grips that enable it to slip nicely into a Wilderness Safepacker. Then, there is my full-lug 4” GP100, with adjustable sights, providing the best sight picture for a longer-range engagement.
There are times that it is not convenient for me to dress around a rubber-gripped, duty-sized firearm. My 2.75” Speed Six and 2” Model 64 have compact, slim wood grips. Or, I may choose to carry one of more of my 2.25” or 3” SP101 five-guns. Notably, there is room on an SP101’s grip for my skinny fingers, so my pinkie finger is contributing to controlling the weapon.
I had tended, for a while, to default to carrying G17 Glocks, but the lack of opportunities to train has the Glocks in mothballs, as my Glock skills are much more perishable than my DA revolvering skills.
