Top 3 handguns that you regret buying, and top 3 that you regret selling!

Hi

Here are my top 3 I regret buying:

1. A Taurus .357 nickel plated 357 revolver. I forgot the mode number, but it was simply a metal junk after few boxes of ammo. SOLD

2. Taurus PT 24/7. Ergo wise it was good but has multiple malfunctions. SOLD

3. Eusta .32 SW. SOLD

Top 3 I regret selling:
1. CZ Czechmate (actually gifted to someone totally not deserving in retrospect!). It was a top notch super accurate.

2. Stechkin - it was in very good condition with original stock. One of those days when someone convinced me to sell it to them. Was going through time when I was distracted with other things in life and the vulture got to me.

3. Desert Eagle 357 with interchangeable barrels one of them was like over 9” or so. Not practical but was great coffee table conversation- sold to a vulture

What about you guys?
 
Regret Buying:
Ruger SP101 in 22 lr. Fit, finish, and trigger all sucked with poorly polished chambers.
FNP-45 It never worked due to major magazine spring issues.
Buck Mark, because I don't care about rimfire much.

Regret Selling:
None of them. If I sell a gun it's for good reason.
 
Just one buyer's regret:
.40 Springfield EMP, the original, not the 4". Tried ,40 because it was the new, happening thing. Two tone cool factor. Found out what a pain that gun is to strip and reassemble. Still have it.

Handguns I regret selling:
1. Series 70 Colt Gold Cup National Match with the box. Kick me now. HARD.
2. Belgium made Baby Browning .25 auto. Cool little gun, but ammo wasn't cheap and it was a pain in the a** to reload, and definitely not sausage fingers friendly.
 
Only regret was a S&W sigma 9mm. Thing would stove pipe every 3-4 round. Tried new mags, trips to my Smith. Wouldn't run right.



Sold 3 I regret. 80s model 60 22lr. A Rossi 971, 357 mag. And finally a charter undercover 38spl
 
I can only think of one I regret buying - a .357 Dan Wesson revolver that I could have changed barrels (for different lengths) on, although I only had the 6" version. It spit a lot of burning powder out of the barrel/cylinder gap no matter how I adjusted it, and two trips back to the factory (at two months per trip) didn't change that. So I sold that revolver at a big loss to a guy that didn't mind wearing leather gloves in order to avoid the blast from the barrel/cylinder gap stinging his fingers and hands.:eek:
Like the one handgun I regret buying, there's only one I regret selling - a High Standard Sentinel 22LR. It was never a really great gun, but it was my first handgun. And I bought it through my mom's and dad's country store/gas station when I was 17 or 18 years old. I must have been about 28 when I foolishly sold it to a co-worker. I don't know whatever became of it. Even that co-worker has been gone for a long time now.:(

yea Sigma - I totally forgot about that nightmare piece of junk. I am clueless why SW even made it. Horrible trigger.
 
Regret buying-
1) Polish PPsH semi-auto "pistol" conversion. It dissasembled itself the first time I shot it. Lucky I didnt lose any digits.
2) Rossi Princess- Zamak frame was dangerously eroded after only a handfull of shots.
3) Mauser HSc- incorrigible Jammmeister. Still stuck with it. Ive had it on consignment at a LGS for several weeks now and, even with the "unprecedented demand," still cant get rid of it.

Regret selling-
1) S&W M39- A buddy gave it to me after it had literally been run over by a truck. I fixed it up and it actually ran perfectly, just really ugly still. Sold it to another buddy for $100. Shoulda kept it and buried it somewhere "just in case."
2) Beretta M92- with FACTORY NICKEL!!!!! I was young and stupid and didnt realize how rare these were. Worth big $$$$$ now.
3) S&W 681- my first handgun. Had a good reason to sell- Id lost my job and had kids to feed- but still........:fire:

Buying: The only one that I ever regretted buying was a S&W Sigma when they first came out back in the late 1990s. S&W had a promotion for "counter guys" to buy a Sigma for pennies on the dollar so that they hopefully would talk them up to their customers. So I bought one! It was awful. The trigger had about a 20 lb pull and it was one of those "safety triggers" that were hinged in the middle which was difficult to get used to but then the plastic trigger also flexed when you pulled it. Accuracy was non-existant. I admit that I'm a terrible shot, but I couldn't hit the target at 25 feet no matter where I was aiming, so I kept moving the target closer -- 20 feet, then 15 feet, then 10 feet and still no hits. Managed to clamp it in a rest and at 10 feet, it was shooting about 3 feet low and right. Sent it back to S&W with the explanation, thanks but no thanks.

Selling: Sorry, but I can't decide on which three I regret the most, so here are may top 4 candidates.
1. American Eagle Test Luger, about 90% original condition
2. Red 9 Broomhandle Mauser with matching stock, about 95% condition
3. SAA with military marks in the Custer range, about 80% condition
4. S&W Straight Line Target Pistol, like new in metal box with all accessories

Mauser and Luger are definitely the ones to keep if one likes guns especially in the condition you mention.

Didn't really regret buying that Astra Model 600 as I was young and it was like my first semi-auto. The gun was brutal on the web of your hand after about 20 rounds and you really had to be into pain if you shot it many more rounds after that!

Regret selling a lot of S&W, Colt, and Ruger revolvers and pistols. Nothing wrong with any of them, just something else caught my eye and away they went.
 
Let's see...

Buying:
Ruger American .45. Smacked my thumb when I shot it. Pitty. Loved everything about the gun save its fat butt.
Taurus Public Defender. Just too big for what it does despite it being a smaller version.
XDS45. Someone owned it before me. Brass to the face hard enough to cut my forehead. Put me way off on the XD line.

Regret selling:
Pre lock 4" 686. Sold it before my daughter was born for baby stuff money. Corrected that at the end of last year with a snub 686+

Glock 21. Traded it toward one of several 1911s I have owned. Was a police trade in with steel sights and shot well. Little thick for my hands, but i hope to get a 30sf down the road.

Beretta 92fs. Bella Donna. I swore I would never trade or sell her, but I needed money for a car. Custom wood grips and a honey of a shooter. I hope to pick up a 92fs compact later this year. Love the curves on those Italian/italian-american beauties.
 
"Regret buying"? None.

"Regret selling"? Only one. That would be the Ruger .22LR pistol from the early '70s that I traded for an Astra .380 in the mid-'70s. And I still have that Astra.
Considering how long it has taken me to get the few guns I have collected and used over the last 45 years, I don't "sell" any guns any more.

Regret buying:

1. Remington R51. Such a piece of garbage. On the bright side, if I am ever diagnosed with low blood pressure all I have to do is think about that thing and all the back and forth with Remington and I should be fine.

2. Ruger Charger 10/22. What was I thinking? Completely useless to me.

3. Ruger single six convertible.22. I got a lemon. In .22 LR it patterned. In .22 Magnum it patterned less. Sold it and the charger at the same time. Only two Rugers I have ever disliked.

Regret selling:

1. Colt Combat Gov’t Series 70 1911. Sold it to put food on the table during rough times in ‘88.

2. Glock 34 Gen 3. Most accurate handgun I ever owned. Recently bought a replacement for it but it’s not as accurate as the first one.

3. I don’t have a third. Like @460Shooter if I sell it, it needed selling. ;)
 
To be fair ill honestly say ive never got a BAD handgun.

regret buying.....

Eaa Witness P-S. I wanted a steel frame gun with a large frame, shoulda bought it. P-S is poly and too small for my hand.

Heritage RR 22 combo.
Front sight was crooked, reloading was annoying.
Otherwise worked fine and shot well

Buying a NAA mini .22 WMR. We bought one in .22LR, 1 Mag. Then found the very pricey mag ammo did nothing more than the LR in it and made it far larger. It found a new home.2nd place went to one of the original AMT Back Ups in .380. Trigger was so hard new shooters often thought the safety was on when they tried to fire it. Would be great if the pistol got taken away. The dobad would think it did not work:D
Wish I had never sold one 1911, made in 1918. It was in BAD shape when I got it. Re finished it and new sights and some new parts so no collector value. It was one hell of a great shooter though and the nostalgia of wondering where it had been. Another was first Ruger .22. Was well used when I got it. I ran a box car load of ammo through it. Often wish I still had it just for the memories of the endless hours of fun with it when I was a kid.
 
The 3 that I regret buying are:
1. Steyr GB Pistol - Horrible in every way.
2. 1st Generation Ruger P85 - you couldn't hit a car with it at 25 feet.
3. Beretta Minx - Got it for free by buying some other pistols, it is completely useless for any purpose.
Thankfully, I do not own any of these any longer.

The 3 that I regret selling are:
1. A late 1970's blue Colt Python
2. A late 1980's SS Colt Anaconda
3. A late 1970's S&W model 57, pinned barrel and recessed cylinder
I could make this list go on for quite a while.

Colt snake series are always the keepers. I sold one blued King Cobra- realized the mistake and bought one in SS finished so I dont really regret the sale even though at times I miss it for it was one of my first guns.

The "regret buying" group group is so extensive I'll not even try to conjure up memories I would just rather forget. Regret selling: A 4" Python, bought and sold in the mid 90's for $450, IIRC. A P7 M8, bought in the mid-90's for $500 and traded later for something I don't recall, but I'm sure today it would be a stupid trade. Finally, a custom series 70 LW commander, sold for $400 in the late 90's.
 
Regret buying BL22 my dad gave me for Christmas at 14, regret buying a 9mm XDM too bulky, regret buying a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 CM. Thought I wanted to get into long range shooting but haven’t felt the desire to put the time into it.

Regret selling a BL22 my father gave me for Christmas at 14, selling it is why I regret having to buy it back, stupid me. Just thankful I was able to buy it back. Regret selling a Redhawk 44m. Never shot it as mine, bought it from a friend who needed cash and sold later. Regret selling an Auto 5 when in a tight, have since bought another but that was my first and I miss it.

That is how I got the Beretta Minx. In the mid 1980's I had an FFL and bought three Colt King Cobras and they gave me a Minx. I should have kept one of the Colts.

Yeah, but I made up for selling my Pythons recently, by getting this.

Only really have the one, the Beretta APX. Not that it's a bad gun, I just bought a Glock 19.5 shortly after that fully replaced everything I would use the APX for.

Oh, I guess I picked a Ruger LCR in a raffle I won, probably should have made a different choice.

Selling? Nah, don't regret selling any of em.

I can recall only 1 I regret buying. A Taurus G2. I thought the trigger would get better over time - it never did. I bumped it once and the plastic front sight moved. I couldn’t get a proper angle on the screw holding it in place and boogered up the slot. The trigger failed to reset twice while taking a class at the range. The gun has been a semi nightmare from day one. Now I only carry it while walking in the woods. Otherwise it lies hidden in the back of the safe
