By gaming your plan,I mean to play that game in your head [ or on paper or even force on force training ]
As we all might face "that moment" when your faced with the VERY REAL THREAT of being dragged from your car and either killed or crippled.
If your not aware of ALL the actual laws in your state = shame on you as since your on this site you should know better.
And knowing the laws gives you a real ability to use them to your advantage.
If your driving with NO EXPECTATION of an incident, and you come across a road blocked by a group [ how many and is there an escape route ], Do you reverse [ can you ? ] do you just stop and see what will happen [ how long can you sit there ? ]
And exactly what will make you decide [ THINK THIS THROUGH BEFORE IT HAPPENS ] that you need to use you vehicle as a weapon or use another tactic to extricate you and your loved ones.
You can be pretty dang sure that it will be recorded = and that you will only see that parts that make you look bad.
So "gaming this" is a great way to provide "Situational Awareness" or a all too possible incident in 'modern times'.
This gaming also relates to a church moment,a supermarket moment,a theater moment,a mall moment.
All require knowledge of the actual laws, and having a plan, and then a back up plan as your first plan went to hell in a hand bucket.
Mike Tyson had a great line "all have a plan, till they get punched in the mouth".

A "plan" isn't even viable until it has been rehearsed and modified accordingly. Pretty much every operational "great idea" I ever heard ended up being unworkable in its original form.
I try to understand your post.

But in my not so humble opinion, every one of my confrontations were somewhere in the "games" that I had played in my head or force on force training.

Not having even that,I might not had the happy resolutions [ I lived ] that I had.

Dont agree,fine.

Just voicing my opinion,as so many do !

I have often written that force-on-force training radically changed my ideas about self-defense. A lot of what I believed was just wrong, sometimes in ways that would have gotten me killed in a real fight.

If there is one overarching principal that I have taken away from force-on-force training, it is that while yes, "the fight is going to be what it is, not what you want it to be", it also can be counted on to be ugly and stupid, and to end badly for everyone involved.

In my opinion, one of the most important parts of "gaming" scenarios in your head is "gaming" how to avoid them.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

Good point, but I would PRAY that all would do so.

All you need to convince yourself of that fact is = sit in any courtroom and listen to what happens to even the best intended shooter.

Interesting post. I have no idea what to do. I'd want out, but don't know what cues to look for - or what the rules of engagement might be legally. I have no interest in running people down with my vehicle, but feel it is going to be a more common scenario taking place if people continue to block roads while people are burning things and rioting and crime and murder is spiking. I guess when there are no police to worry about, the legal implications won't matter, just survive by any means necessary.

I took his post to mean, OK, you make a plan for different scenarios you feel are relevant for your situation, but if you can rehearse them, even all by yourself inside your house (with snapcaps if firearms will be involved), you have a better chance of success in the event they happen. Thank G-d, so far none of my scenarios came true, but one thing I notice is that if I start trying to act out a scenario I see things I didn't think of when it was only mental. So that right there is worth a lot.

So I think really you guys are both saying the same thing. :)

One recommendation the @Tom Givens makes is to read the local newspaper/news website and use actual crimes in your area to game plan and build mental maps. This will ground your thoughts in some basis of reality and remove the ninjas through the ceiling.

With all of the unrest and the abundance of cameras and YouTube there is a masters program of material out there to study for more wide spread unrest planning versus the local mugging of that is your concern.

THANK YOU for grasping my intent.

It is not easy to get across any idea in text, that could be easily explained in front of anyone.

I have taught my friends [ both of them :)] that when they tried to clear their house,I got them EVERY time.

All we needed was a flashlight and a dark house that they "thought" they knew well.

Rule was,if I hit them with the light before they saw me ,they were either wounded or dead.

They always lost.
