My son is getting his CCP tomorrow. He knows how to handle firearms, shoots better than I do & I shoot a lot. He likes the Hellcat, I like the Sig. I have a Ruger EC9S for Summer, a Ruger SR9C for Winter and a Walther PPQ 9mm for SHTF carry. He has shot all three. Any suggestions or experience on the two in the above title. Greatly Appreciate any insight.

I have a 365 and like it. mines been free of the trouble others have posted, so far but its one example and that doesn't mean anything. the mags are hard to load, as I'm sure ya know. its to big and thick for proper pocket carry. appendix carry and 4 o clock or 8 o clock, if a southpaw like me, works well. mines very accurate and overall easy to grip and hold and handle well with 3 fingers using the smallest mag and no extension. I have smallish hands though.

I don't a hellcat and haven't shot one so have no idear. I assume its in the same class size wise carry ability and ergos, etc and scores well overall.

my advice is to let him pick the one he likes and fits his hand and is in stock, of course. better if he can rent and try out.

Glock 19

...

What? Someone had to say it ;):D

I had a 365 for a bit and it was fine, accurate and reliable but too thin for my hands (since you have one, so was the Ruger SR9c, but much closer). Couldn't really grip it right and it showed on the clock compared to the relatively similar sized Glock 26. I say similar because the 365 was too big for my pockets and both belt carried the same on me (mileage may vary, of course).

Still, if it fits you hands right I'd heartily recommend the 365, the one I had ran perfect and was capable of some impressive slow fire accuracy.

Haven't met a Hellcat in the wild yet but the slightly thicker grip would probably be a plus for me, and I've heard mostly good things about it, just the occasional story of strikers breaking during dry fire is the only negative I've seen so far.

Well, here we are again in the realm of the totally subjective.

Why not let him decide (sounds as though he's already identified a front-runner).

But me, personally, I'll recommend the SIG 100% of the time. Better sights than the Hellcat, (for me) a more ergonomic grip, much better trigger (without the dingus). And the legendary SIG accuracy. Haven't gotten more'n a few mags through a Hellcat, was okay, but nothing special.

You said he likes the Hellcat more so I dunno what the question is.

I think they are both about equal objectively and it comes down to subjective for the decision between the two

I had both, I like the Hellcat better. It just fills my hand nicer and I don't get the pain in my finger like I do from the 365 trigger. Plus the standard model is optic ready.

I've had both of the Rugers. They are good enough, I'd trust either the LC9s or SR9c. Nothing fancy about them but they work and were accurate for me.

But I sold them both after I bought a Sig 365. With 10 round magazines it isn't any bigger, nor harder to carry IWB than the 7 round Ruger LC9s. And with the available 12 round magazines it filled the same role as either the SR9c or my G19. I ain't selling either of the 2 G19's I own, but the Sig has largely replaced them.

Of course it is a lot more expensive. I'm not sure it is any more capable, but I like it better and can afford it . For someone with a more limited budget you could do a lot worse than the Rugers.

I have no personal experience with the Hellcat, but the availability of a 1911 style safety on the Sig makes it the winner for me. You have both options with Sig There is nothing that says you have to use it if you don't want to. But under certain situations I like having the option.

To me the Hellcat fits my hand better and feels better, I shoot the P365 better. But I carry a Glock 48 with Shield Arms 15 round mags, like it better than both.

pick whichever you shoot well and feels right in the hand.

I compared them side by side at the store. I prefer the sights on the Hellcat, the front sight just screams at me. However, the 365 just felt better in hand, so I bought it.

Once a Hellcat with optic option shows up I’ll buy one to see how I like optics on a carry pistol.

Both are nice guns, but a bit pricey for me. The increased capacity is nice, but that equals more weight in something that I am already trying to hide the best I can. These are reasons I like my shield 9.

I have the Shield 9 and 45.

The Hellcat is not any heavier or bulky. It's actually smaller!

The range that I'm a member at has a rental Sig P365, but not the Hellcat. We're going there tomorrow so he can try it out. From the replies they're both pretty similar. I prefer Sig as a company over Springfield. If all goes well tomorrow pretty sure he'll go with the Sig.

I recently went on a search for my EDC. I tried Shield, Hellcat and SIG p365. No to the Shield. The Hellcat felt nice in my hand, but the SIG was the better shooter for me. I found a p365 with a manual safety and bought it. I have fired 3 different brands of factory ammo and 3 different reloads of my own. No issues. I'm happy with my decision to go with the Sig.

I held both and the Hellcat felt a bit better, but I liked the trigger feel on the Sig, and the Sig had a manual safety option. I went with the TacPac option and love it. I bought a $12 Hogue slip-on grip to make the P365 feel perfect. I don't know why people simply don't try the multitude of slip-on grip or tape options in order to adjust how a certain pistol fits them, rather than lose hundreds of dollars in trading off guns.

Compared to my G19, the P365 gives up three rounds and is noticeably easier to carry and conceal.

It is HIS gun, correct? If so, let HIM pick out HIS gun. You said he likes the Hellcat, then that is what he should get. I own 2 365s and love them, but I have no experience with the Hellcat.

Agree, my 365 replaced my G-19 - in fact my LGS has my Glock for consignment sale in his store

Wandered in the shop to pick up a 228 today (well, fill out the paper work anyway, with how backed up the system is I hope by background check clears tomorrow... Or this week) and they had a 365, 365 XL and a Hellcat in the display, and shocking little else.

I much prefer how the Hellcat fits my hands, the thicker grip is much better in the hand and I'm sure my issues with the too thin 365 would be solved by the Hellcat. Also, that Yellow front sight really pops over the green of the 365 (which I also really like), but I'd have to black out the u shaped nonsense on the rear sight.

Trigger was very nice too.

Sounds like the Hellcat is the one for you; with MY hands, the 365 fits like a glove
